I'd say that the trailer Sakurai's talking about is the Wii U version, but the 3DS version will be covered in the inevitable 3DS Direct.

The Direct Announcement and some other press releases from Nintendo have only mentioned the Wii U version of the game though, ignoring the 3DS one. I don't think the 3DS game has been cancelled, but there might be a reason it's getting so sidelined. Maybe a delay or they just won't be focusing on it for this initial reveal?

I had to make the switch to the CCP when I transferred everything over to my Wii U.
Took some getting used to, but I actually think I prefer it to the Cube controller now. The digital triggers are much nicer for blocking.

I just want 1 character per big 3rd party. Keep the Snakes and the Sonics, then give us the Mega Mans and the Kites (.hack//) and I'll be more than happy even if the rest of the roster is identical.
It probably shouldn't even exist, to be honest with you. It distracts from the more important version and creates an environment where gamers don't NEED to buy the Wii U to play the game.
Not that I don't like the idea of handheld Smash Brothers and cross-play.
He didn't, but I'm not surprised others have considered the possibility. I guess it all depends on resources. If they'll stretch far enough for two versions of the game, there will be two versions of the game. Smash.Bros will sell millions on both Wii U and 3DS.
I winger whether they will be different games with some similarities, or like Monster Hunter where it's basically the same game on Teri platforms. Wii U HAS to be the stronger version because it needs to shift consoles, but online multiplayer between players on both consoles would be fun.
