Crazy that we have to literally beg for it. It's almost demeaning, especially if this trend continues.

The fucking thread itself is about the dev saying it's not a technical problem. Can people stop with the console wars for once and start actually reading the thread they are in? Seriously what the fuck.

Should be getting some more traction with mainstream publications like this or kotaku/polygon/etc, which will hopefully follow.

Should be a good idea. I can see people doing money matches or side matches with switches on the go. That would be kind of dope tbh.

With regards to the joycon dpad, peripherals are made all the time. What makes these any different?

It's currently averaging 1000 retweets an hour, so yes, it will be interesting to see how it caps off.

I'm starting to think that the producer was expecting nothing to come of her comment, and now they have this massive blow-back a mere day after the interview was publicized... it'll be interesting to see how Bandai Namco reacts. Cuz if they do nothing at this point, it's a pretty shit look for them.

The end of the article is a bit shit, though:

Our Take
The Switch's power has been much discussed in relation to the other current-gen consoles; it's nice to know that it's not standing in the way of a Dragon Ball FighterZ port. If anything, the interview reads as a request for Nintendo fans to speak up if they're interested in playing it. I'm guessing they are, and that they will.

It seems to imply that "Nintendo fans" are the only ones buying or interested in a Switch, and that it's impossible that gamers of all stripes would want a fighting game on a portable device. It's rather reductive.

The main reason I would double dip is for being able to play and lab on the go.

...Still waiting on them to release Joycons with a decent D-pad, though. I can't even really enjoy my Neo Geo stuff because of that!

Yeah that's pretty much any discussion about the Switch. Anyone who owns one and wants games for it is automatically branded a "Nintendo fan", as if the only way anyone would enjoy the Switch is for fanboy reasons. Naturally anyone who owns Nintendo hardware has to have some degree of interest for Nintendo, but it's a dumb false equivalence regardless. Kinda condescending as well.

didn't Nintendo release a "zelda box" in march? to then add mario kart a month later? that's as Nintendo as you can get. If someone already has one, it's fair to assume that they are a Nintendo fan/were going to play Nintendo games, no?

thing is

"nintendo fan" has a denotative meaning, and that's what you are advocating here.

but its connotative meaning, used in the article, is something like this

Very reductive. I mean, FGC people could play while on a plane and any time while they're away from home or traveling.

I even linked to James Chen, earlier in the thread who pretty much wants that.

It's a Namco thing. They asked us to beg for Soulcalibur 5 and despite its strong sales they they asked us to again beg for a Soulcalibur sequel.

I wouldn't call retweeting a post or saying you are interested in a Switch version begging... Then again we are on GAF, where pretty much everything counts as begging.

People who own or hope to own a Nintendo Switch have seen DBFZ and that is what's in demand now. No one should have to beg or plead with a developer to release content on a platform. Just do it or don't. It's that simple. Fuck Bamco or any game developer that treats potential customers is such a way.

Vita is the only non-Nintendo platform that has been treated this way. With this and the Yuzo Koshiro interview there seems to be a weird thing where Nintendo platforms need to justify their existence in ways other platforms don't.

No shit. How many games have we been told to beg for at this point?

Dragon Ball FighterZ

Disney Afternoon Collection

MegaMan Legacy Collection 2

What else am I missing? I could have sworn there's at least a couple more.

And they aren't even games that are demanding or would be difficult to port due to hardware. Begging Capcom for ports is especially insulting considering they're collections of NES games for fuck's sake. They must have thought the Switch would literally flop out the gate to not have ports of these collections ready. But sure, give us Street Fighter 2 of all things!

Otherwise, I'm glad that there's no technical reason DBFZ can't come to Switch. The game looks sick as hell, one of the best examples of celshading I've seen (the other being Little Witch Academia). I've never played a Dragon Ball fighting game but if it's good I see no reason why this couldn't be my first.

It may be splitting hair or semantics but that's what it comes down to. "Oh we're not making this game for your preferred platform so go on social media and let us know" just because it's clicking a button to retweet doesn't mean it's not a group of people letting a company know they want a thing, which can be taken as "You can have it but you have to ask for it otherwise we won't make it because of apparently no reasons" by some.

Honestly, yeah. The retweet initiative has been civil enough so far, from what I've seen. I can agree that this situation is particular to exist to begin with (i.e. it shouldn't be a thing), but showing enthusiasm towards the potential release of a game on your desired system doesn't sound that negative to me. Again, at least so far.

I still think that what happened with both Capcom's retro-games collection has more to do with dev kits not distributed to the respective developers than anything else

Leaving out the fact that social media backlash is a huge part of the reason for the Xbone reveal issues were made to go away (to say nothing of all the other examples), thus making your statement needlessly cynical... what does work, exactly? Will they only be appeased by receiving a letter written in our own blood? When no acceptable means were outlined to show we want this, anything should be deemed acceptable.

It's kind of hard to gauge interest for a title on a brand new system coming off of the Wii U.

Why are people doubting that the game can run on the switch due to "how advanced it is"? It's an Unreal Engine 4 game (if it runs on the same engine as Guilty Gear Xrd) and there's nothing in there that's impossible for the Switch

The thing with the Switch is that it isn't attending to a specific market as before. It's taking a bite out of pretty much every market, which puts it in a weird position or not knowing the audience. It may be a successor to both the Wii U and 3DS, however that's a horribly way to tell if how a Dragon Ball game will sell. I wouldn't doubt if they were intending on greenlighting the game after XV2 launches in the Fall.

XV2 is early 2018

Also it's found its market since it's constantly OOS and highly sought after, The best selling DBZ games are on the 3DS afaik

BS part is that at least 2 of those games would work 100% better on a system like Switch as well as 3DS which was the best for Legacy Colllection 1

Guess it could happen. Characters aren't all that high poly and the scenery isn't very detailed. But there can be 4 characters on screen at times, that's a taller order than Xrd running on the PS3.

The "game's too complex for Switch" discourse is getting so old. Let devs decide if the game can run on Switch and leave baseless technical speculation to yourself.

Well we've already seen a game that had 8 characters on screen at times with lots of items flying everywhere in Sm4sh on the Wii U so it's not like that's anything impressive
