Nintendo closing down Nintendo Phuten (subsidary company in Taiwan)

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
Nintendo Phuten in Taiwan will be closed by end of May, with most employees leaving by the end of this month

All after-sales services will remain operational though, and every thing will be handled by Nintendo HK

I wonder what the end goal of this move is.

Maybe Nintendo is gearing up for something more substantial in mainland China?

Maybe Nintendo wants to consolidate their distribution-related subsidiaries and this is part of a greater restructuring effort?

Who knows.

Probably just cutting costs. I've seen videogames sold in other SE Asian countries where Nintendo (or Sony) don't have an official presence; they're usually just imported from HK.

Having Nintendo HK handle Taiwan is probably a good thing.

Still, always sad to see people lose their jobs.
