The Punisher Official Trailer

Looks alright. Not a fan of the music choice but I guess it fits.

I was super confused when I saw this thread lol. For a second, I thought that there was a movie in production that I was unaware of.

Anyway, not getting my hopes up considering Netflix and Marvel's track record recently but hopefully this will buck the trend. Ahem, pun definitely intended.

Bernthal roars like a lion. It's also his birthday today FYI.

A surprise release would tie into the Punisher. You never see him coming.

Oh its real an Eminem actually kills off a comic book character for good in this. Like he's dead as Uncle Ben
They may have brought him back by now, its been a while.

Who? And please answer in a full sentence, naming Eminem too, for maximum ridiculousness.

I don't even read comics anymore and I refuse to believe this is real and nothing you can say will change my mind.

Sure, but John Wick seems to have started a trend in film.

Hmm yeah.

And studying that gif, there doesn't seem to be a scope involved.

That was some very good usage of Metallica.

I can't even complain. They cut that together pretty fuckin well.

(I don't know that I like Frank bellowing and howling like that, but that's how this Frank does it, so I'll roll with it)

(I also don't care how people are holding their guns. This isn't a documentary)

No date, huh?

I don't know if I should watch this! I wanna go in as blindly as possible.

I used to frequent this site called I-mockery, which used to do funny recaps of comics.

*Eminem used to be friends with Punisher's biggest nemesis, Barracuda

*Barracuda rescues Eminem from the Punisher but it turns out that the Punisher was there to rescue him from Barracuda who was hired to kill him

*Punisher gets knocked out but Eminem saves himself by getting a chainsaw and wrecking Barracuda

*Punisher discovers that the ones who pulled the hit on Eminem were parents who were too sick of his 'filthy language' and wanted to save their kids from him. Punisher ends the story by saying those moms and dads should expect a visit from him real soon.

That simple jack hairstyle though...

what were they thinking?

I like that they appear to be using long shots to show the action clearly. I'm so glad that we seem to be moving away from "can't tell what the fuck is happening" in action scenes.

Welp, Frank's going after CIA, HomeSec and FBI, running away from cops like a mofo. Sure seems to be on the right track.

Not everybody can nail the Ray Stevenson slicked-back look.

Yarp, sure sounds like something Van Lente would write.

Wait...so Frank's wife was killed in their house now? But the already ridiculously convoluted backstory laid out in Season 2 of Daredevil made out that Frank's family was killed at the park near the carousel.
Nightmare, ya dummy.

I really really hope they don't glorify the man. There's a very fine line that separates the good Punisher portrayals from the bad ones, and that usually is how "heroic" Frank's actions are. A good Punisher show would explore that moral gray area and see just how Frank's relentless killing impacts the world around him. And as much as I enjoy reading Ennis' run, I hope they don't make the bad guys here cartoonishly evil and depraved.

I'm glad that the action scenes appear to be shot in a very clear John Wick style instead of hard cuts every half second.

Looks good. Are they just going to drop it one Friday and be like, "Surprise, The Punisher is live!" or some shit like that? I'm thinking it'll probably release in November, similar to Jessica Jones season one. But this teasing is annoying.

this would be awesome. Because, yeah the lack of a date at this point is completely pointless.

also great trailer.

Ive heard November 10th (marine corps birthday) is the release date.

November 10th IS a Friday which is when Netflix stuff releases (at least big new stuff)

So he kills gangsters and shit because the military killed his family? Not a fan. And didn't he go to the merry go round or whatever in DD S2 because that's where his family died?

Considering the trailer has a shot of a blood splatter hitting what looks to be a carnival horse, I don't think they're forgetting how Frank's family died in S2 of Daredevil

They're gonna.

They need to.

Punisher works best as a jet-black satire/parody of crime stories. There are some times where you can almost play him straight up, but in order to make him repugnant as he should be, and also make him a character (or force of nature) you have to root for, you've gotta send his villains screaming so far over the top...

This one? Best case scenario is it gets kiiiinda close to Brubaker's run. Maybe.

Should be interesting to watch though. Hopefully. It's still Netflix Marvel, which means at least 4 of these episodes are guaranteed to just sit there. Inert and lifeless.

I wonder how many times people are gonna quote and correct me before reading further down the thread.

Nobody reads, Kree.

Looks good.

I really hope they are channeling Ennis with this series.

His work on the character is unmatched and precisely what I want from The Punisher:

A brutal, uncompromising borderline sociopath who obliterates criminals.

I dunno, we could get lucky. It might only be 3 episodes that just sit there this time!

I can't get excited about any of these MCU shows anymore. I guess if I hear they handle the character in an interesting way, and it's not gun porn gritty vengeance story, I'll get a bit more interested about it.

My favorite Marvel Comic's Hero mixed with my Favorite Metallica song. Possibly the best trailer ever. Loved the use of One in there.
