His history in the town is gone into with a decent amount of detail in Mike's interviews with the townspeople as an adult, as well as the flashback/dream sequence some of the kids have to his original arrival on earth/this reality when they're tripping on fumes in the clubhouse.

His backstory is part of the whole Dark Tower mythos and is somewhat complicated, so probably not.

At best they'll give some insight into his relationship with Derry

This movie's only the kid story, right? They're either saving the adult story for a sequel or not doing it at all?

You seem to understand exactly why that sequence would be considered shocking (hence your calling it a shock in one of your posts), so I'm not sure I need to further explain beyond my already explanatory post upthread as to the content of the scene you just called shocking.

However, the repeated responses of "Jesus Christ" with the inflection changed for comedic emphasis are intended to draw attention to the ludicrous nature of suggesting that leaving in a scene of group child sex in a major motion picture would not only be good for the movie overall, but that you're possibly confused as to how such a scene might be considered "so bad" by the majority of readers, as well as its writer.

You're essentially staking out the position that you don't fully understand why the young cast of this film pantomiming sex in a sewer would be considered bad.

To which my response is "Jesus Christ."

Pennywise does jump-scares/reality distortions just to mess with people psychologically, but when he actually comes for you physically, it's usually a slow pursuit because he savors the terror.

Thanks.

Stop while you're ahead. The fact that you think it should be left in just for 'shock value' shows how idiotic you are.

Thanks for elaborating, and no I was not trolling. In my head I remember them being adults down in the sewers at that part of the story, so clearly I need to read that part of the book again.

Fuck that image alone is enough to make me avoid this trailer and film like the plague, i actually think it looks very impressive for a horror movie, the cinematography and the "small town kids go on a spooky adventure" angle is enough that if there wasnt a clown id be interested. But that being said, i have a terrible phobia of clowns so ill probably skip this one. Part of the fear is my sister making me watch the tim curry original at a young age. You were directly told they were girls and boys in this post I've already quoted. there are multiple mentions in the thread of this movie only being about the kids. You know the movie is only about the kids. And then you suggested they should keep the scene in this movie due to shock value.

I don't see how you could have misunderstood what you were commenting on.

The novel jumps back and forth between both timelines' sewer pursuits, with the kid pursuit happening just a little before page-wise, and the characters remembering that scene just before they head back down as adults.

They aren't going to show off the better CGI transformations in a trailer.

They've already hinted at or shown the leper, the spider, the victims of the fire at the black spot, and the werewolf.

I really, really liked the depictions of the house on Neibolt Street (which has at least 2 major setpieces for the kids), and the indifference of the townspeople to Henry threatening Ben with a knife (with the subtle balloon appearing in the back of the car).

Well they only showed him a couple times. In the first teaser you can see his hand transform into something (a werewolf?)

I wonder if the storm drain scene will be like the book or the tv movie?

Dave Gardener was the first to get there, and although he arrived only forty-five
seconds after the first scream, George Denbrough was already dead. Gardener grabbed
him by the back of the slicker, pulled him into the street...and began to scream himself
as George's body turned over in his hands. The left side of George’s slicker was now
bright red. Blood flowed into the stormdrain from the tattered hole where his left arm
had been. A knob of bone, horribly bright, peeked through the torn cloth.

Rated R huh? It might be more like the book then.

Nah trailer isn't giving much away, it's also only an adaptation of about half of the book. The book is fucking awesome. It's very long but it has an atmosphere like no other. I highly recommend the audio book narrated by Steven Weber.

If the movie is anything like the book, there is still plenty to see. The trailer barely gives anything away.

Listening to that as I type this. He does a good job with all the voices and the book is good so far.

I hope this movie is good enough to warrant the adult sequel.

Loving the look of this movie. As someone who recently finished the audiobook, this version seems to be closer to the book version. He was never described in the book as being freindly looking. They always felt a little off, almost a dread feeling, when they saw him as a clown.

Can't wait!!

the movie looks good, visually at least, I dig that... what I do not, it's the cheap jumpscares, whenever the music goes down you know you'll get your random loud noise and the clown appearing on screen out of nowhere, hopefully the movie is not too heavy on those but the trailer already gave me the impression it will be full of jumpscares.
