Lonely is the Night by Billy Squier

11 seconds, but close. What I think sets it apart from other lead ins is that it's basically self-contained and not actually done by Billy Squier even, just a short starting guitar riff that is awesome but has little to do with the rest of the song.

It's an Iranian song and really love it. Other than amazing (10+10) seconds, you should listen to all of it. Specially 1:18. Wow!

Maybe not the best ever but, I always thought the riff in CKY's 96 Quite Bitter Beings was badass. They hit you in the face with it right at the beginning.

I actually think the opening horn riff to YMCA is one of the most propulsive pieces of music ever written. Gets me pumped up every time.

The first thing that came to my mind is The Who-Baba O'Riley, but uh, it's probably something else. Honestly it might be a video game song because of how those are designed around looping. Maybe National Park from the Pokemon GSC soundtrack?

Liking a lot of the picks here. Dr. Dre-Still D.R.E., Kanye West-Power, Metallica-Enter Sandman.....hard to argue.

Not really a selection of the best but ones I like that's been in the recent playlist I made and been listening to.

Pillorian - A Stygian Pyre

Nagelfar - Bildnis der Apokalypse

Helrunar - Hauch wird Sturm

Der Weg Einer Freiheit - Lichtmensch

- Iron Maiden - The Trooper
- RTJ - Oh My Darling Don't Cry
- High on Fire - Rumors of War (I'm cheating, but Pike's grunt at the 14 sec mark makes me want to kick things)
- The Ronettes - Be My Baby
- Heart - Barracuda
- Dandy Warhols - Get Off
- Muse - Plug in Baby
- Arcade Fire - Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)
- Nine Inch Nails - Last
- Biggie - Kick in the door
- Blue Oyster Cult - Don't fear the reaper
- Titus Andronicus - Dimed Out
- Nirvana - Smells like Teen Spirit (most obvious choice, probably why no one mentioned it)

This is a good pick because it's the moment where the album gets very experimental with its instrumentals. It's the song that got me hooked on AE

Incoming overlong list based on my playlist

Holland, 1945 is the best song in ITAOTS in my opinion because of that initial impact of the 10 seconds.

BOB's incredible. Best song in the Outkast discography, and such a stunning intro.

Miami Disco - Perturbator

Let's Go Crazy - this speech goes for longer than the first 10 seconds but holy shit this song is perfect this album is perfect fuck Sgt. Pepper this is the GOAT album

Tennis Court - This is such a great thesis statement for why Pure Heroine is a modern masterpiece

DNA, Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe, Alright, King Kunta

All Of The Lights, Power, Monster, Hell of A Life, Runaway, Touch the Sky, Bring Me Down, On Sight, Gorgeous, Black Skinhead (the best 10 seconds of air drumming ever), Bound 2, Father Stretch My Hand Pt. 1, Famous, Wolves, Fade, Love Lockdown, We Don't Care, All Falls Down, Jesus Walks

Pyramids

Ziggy Stardust, Life On Mars

One More Time, Aerodynamic, Digital Love, hell every song in Discovery

Edit: HOW DID I FORGET RUN AWAY WITH ME AND EMOTION AND BOY PROBLEMS AND HIGHER? I shall listen to Emotion 5 times and Side B 3 times in penance for my missed opportunity to shill Godly Rae Jepsen.
