Finished the new year event. Got that plane, locked and double chevroned. Also Kazagumo decided to show up when doing 3-5, so a free skilled lookout.
Crane sisters are also happy since both of them got one jet each. Really nice to have extra bombing phase when doing 3-5 new year quest.

I'm missing some quests for the third one. Damnit, gotta rush it now somehow.
Try doing B18 quest. 2CAV, 2BBV and 2 Wildcards to 4-2 and kill the boss.

Yup, locked in the plane. Wasn't sure what to get, but came back here to see what you said to pick up and got that.
I don't have 3-5 unlocked (not even done 3-2) so the fourth quest I'll leave for now. Was worth getting the plane though!
EDIT: It was B18 and the two requisites to that I was missing. I did them, luckily I had Ise, Mogami and Hyuuga. I just had to get Hyuuga to level 10 to make her BBV.

Weird that the maintenance will be on Saturday, when it usually happened on Friday. My resources are fine this time, ~300k on all with 3k buckets waiting. Hopefully I'll be able to do all on hard this time. Small event helps as well. Also yay for 1 year anniversary of me playing this game. We meet again winter event.
Some players speculating that this event require a lot of Saiun (Yellow one preventing RedTea). I should try to develop them this last few days before the event. Also, another candidate for Orel cruising should be introduced in this event.

No Graf, no Italia, no Roma... Sigh, my motivation is quite low to finish this event. However, I-13 and I-14 are quite nice so I'll try to finish this event.

Don't scrap your saiun. Scrap the recon plane, leave saiun unlocked

This is also the first even I've played where you need 6 SS. People on Discord are trying their best to find an alternate solution...

So on med or hard, what happens is that you get a quest when you open E3 that tells you to scrap recon planes and have unlocked saiun. You need 2 "disassembled saiun", which you must put on an SSV, and then you have to go through the map and successfully clear the TP boss phase (which is why people say node and boss support is necessary).
The thing is, if you fail, you lose the saiun and have to scrap 2 more and try again. So you need 2, but if RNG fails you, you may need more.
It's a wacky mechanic that I think kind of sucks, to be honest, but what can you do.
Well, screw the new ships. I'm farming for Yuu!

Thankfully E1E doesn't eat much resources. I actually gained fuel and ammo farming alongside expedition. Buckets counts also remains flat.
I used 3 CL and 3 DD, with 4 OASW ships. No prob S ranking the boss. Send LBAS to B node.
EDIT: Wait.. a white haired ship dropped on I node!!! It's Kikuzuki obviously.

Yep. I don't mind the scrapping thing, but the fact that you can lose the items is the worst part.
Still, it's funny to have an event where you basically need a fleet of subs considering they went out of their way to prevent subcheesing in every other event since Spring 2015.

I can confirm she drop. After 4 Kashima, 2 Mizuho, Isokaze, Uranami, Nimu, a handful of Tanikaze and Urakaze and dozens of regular subs. No Maruyu dropped tho.
My 2nd Yuu. First for this event. Going to continue farming E1E until this coming weekend before start clearing it. Farming in office is relatively easy.
Welp, cleared E2H in 7 runs, 2 of them are retreats. All cleared with TCF. LBAS on boss and node support. No boss support used. Used like 50 buckets tho.
Kamikaze, Asakaze and Harukaze are stronk. Satsuki as well.

Boss herself has too much HP. and her escort being a real meat tank. All three preboss node also a real PITA. 20+ runs, 1/3 of it able to reach boss, and I'm only able to reduce 1/3 of the bar. Of course, 0 boss kill so far.

Thanks! I gave up on trying to use a transport combined fleet and switch to a CTF comprising of 2 FBB 2 CV 2 CAV + 1 CL 4 DD 1 CLT. I sent my LBAS bombers to the boss and used node support shelling. I really wish I had taken screenshots of my setup as this is the best I can do post-clear.
I gave everyone your typical equipment set-up except I gave my CAVs one barrel each and loaded up my DDs with as many daihatsus that they could carry. Since there was no LOS check, I gave my FBBs AP shells and gave Sendai 2 guns and a barrel instead of a seaplane.

I see you're using KC3. To get equips, go to event tab, select that sortie. Take the top left number above the date, e.g. 7514. Then go to Fleet > Manager > From sortie history. Enter the number and click view. The equips should be there.

Probably just bad luck/RNG to be honest.
Currently working my way through E3H. Already debuffed the boss at nodes J and I and managed to get an S-rank on my first time getting to the boss. So far, this is a lot less frustrating than E2H.
Edit: It seems like that S-rank was a fluke. All other runs have not yielded an S-rank.

Only boss nodes have guaranteed drops, so there is a chance to get no drops from I. It's why farming mid nodes is terrible. lol
Ahh bugger, I didn't realise it wasn't counted as a boss node haha.

My current fleet. ABKM and KTKM ate some Maruyu so their luck are 30+. Fleet 3 standard boss support expedition. LBAS1 2xFighter 2xLBASBomber, LBAS2 1xFighter 3xLBASBomber
You could take her observation plane and level her up to Kai in PvP to get another one. While they're not the hardest thing to craft, they're nice to have and it's easier to get from Mizuho in my opinion.

I don't think they put a Yuu drop on a boss node outside of the first event where I got her in 2015, but I could be misremembering.
You probably don't need CI on the CLTs because their double attacks hit the night battle cap... but yeah, RNG.
I assume the carrier hime meat shields are going to be the biggest problem. Just gotta pray your day battle blows everything up.
I'm still stuck trying to farm for I-13 so... rip.
I'm also now stuck on E3H LD using the same set-up that Tom did. I think it's just a matter of luck honestly.

I'm still stuck at LD. Luck is definitely not on my side. No Hitomi either. I'll switch to Normal if I'm not able to clear it by today. Not worth trying anymore lol.
Take her obs plane and scrap. One Mizuho is enough I think. Slow AV rarely have any part in event.
Switched to double attack for both CLT. Still the same. That both Hime need to be down on day battle.
Yeah, the two carriers are honestly the main problem, but if you can kill one or both in the daytime or kill them before the last three of your ships attack in yasen, you should be okay. I just got very lucky.
Yeah, I here you. I was up later than usual last night trying to clear LD. I decided enough was enough and went to bed. Sometimes it's good to just walk away for a bit and come back to it later.
One more LD try, if it failed, I'm switching to normal. My resources(lowest is fuel at 240k) and buckets(2770) are still fine, but morale is too low now. I just want to complete this event lol.
Best LD, NB, Boss(green) and one hime(taiha) left, all escort are still green, only able to taiha the boss. Drained my morale to min level immediately.
5 runs, all five of them stuck at preboss. 1st node even... Okay, I'm done with hard.
I don't blame you. You still get the nice Saiun for normal at least.

Tried once before resetting. Zuiho chuuha on 1st node. Fast forward, only boss left at NB in yellow. All escort are in good condition. ABKM TCI the boss to oblivion with 300+ damage and destroy the HP bar.
Now, how I'm suppose to get I-13...

Every event has been like that, maybe to stop people from purely paying to win, since the boss kill is always a roulette spin and praying everyone targets the boss. lol
I farmed for I-13 on Easy through A ranks because I didn't want to bother resetting the TP bar over and over again. I don't know if the lower drop rate is worth it though. It took me about 80k fuel/60k steel/ammo and at least 40 runs.

This is going to be a real pain to get I-13. I'm locked to hard now. I tried farming on easy previously, but boss easily damaged on that difficulty, making last dance triggered after a few runs, even on A ranks. Reset and went to hard hoping she'll drop during chipping. I got much rarer ship, Teruzuki and 4 Takanami, but no, no I-13.
