Well AR-15 makes sense. Even with shotgun spread that would be almost impossible to pull off considering normal shotgun capacity.

Apparently there was a stampede, and for some reason the CNN lady keeps repeating the stampede is somehow attributed to how hotly anticipated this film was. What does that have to do with people fleeing to safety?

I think she just means that because the movie was so popular all rooms showing this movie were at 100% capacity, making the stampede/escape extremely difficult.

I whinny my fervor lowly, for his length is not as great as those of the Hylian war stallions
AR-15? If that's true, this will turn into a huge gun-control debate...

I'm impressed by how well this was handled.

Not to start a different kind of debate here, but this is a good example of why police are armed with more powerful weapons these days.

This won't be the last time we hear of incidents like this...

Large audiences, thats all. Probably phrased badly in the rush to report.

I agree with the "Couple of nutjobs" vote as well. Probably one or two guys with some affiliation to some dodgy site(white supremacy or some other crap), or suffering from some mental disorder. Probably thought hitting TDKR screening was the best, to maximise kill count. Probably not to do with the movie (even though may be used as a scapegoat).

What was the significance of targeting 3 rooms filming this specific movie?

Quite simple, really. It's a hotly anticipated movie. The theatre was likely packed and a lot of the people were sitting ducks. Sadly, the shooter probably blended in because a lot of people likely thought he was dressed up for the movie.

Sky news have mentioned how local police, FBI, and their own sources aren't calling it terrorism, but more of a 'local gunman'.
Although again we don't know if they'll find any other evidence in the apartment.

Why "vote" on who you think it is responsible? , just wait.

The media circus for this is just going to be disgusting.

I'm gonna try to go back to lurking until I can get to sleep... I want to stop posting before I say something I'll regret. I hope there aren't any more fatalities.

So many times I'm in a theater and think how easy it would be for an individual to do something this insane and now that it happens, it's just crazy. I pray it's not something that happens again.

Why does this have to be made into "social porn"? The reporter just said he "heard" a baby was shot there. You don't have to say that, especially when it's a rumor and ESPECIALLY when it's very improbable that somebody took a baby to a movie theater.

No need to tiptoe around it, given the time and day of the attack, this is obviously related the Batman movie. Who knows if it's some domestic dudes who picked it for that reason, or some Al Qaeda type group that picked it because those theaters would be full of people, but either way, it's most likely not just a coincidence.

Just because a movie will probably unfairly be made a scapegoat for some nutjob's actions doesn't mean there's no connection whatsoever.

I really need to get some sleep now. I hope all the survivors pull through and thank god that the suspect was apprehended.
