I got two cheseburgers and a vanilla shake...the bun is slightly crunchier, but otherwise this is literally McDonalds. Even has yellow wrappers.

You jokers. :^P

Dicks is not In and Out. No one ever said it was. Not our fault.

You guys, I've never had a burger at Dick's.

(Granted, I haven't had a hamburger in years...)

I think it might be time.

Ironically, someone pulled into Dick's to take my spot while I was leaving but someone stole it, so he yelled "Dickwad!"

Dick's is definitely not "literally McDonald's"; it's a char grilled all beef patty (never frozen). The only similarity is the thinness of the patty, IMO. Not to mention the fries are fresh cut and very different. And they always have an efficient assembly line working; McDonald's would take 2-3 times the time to get your food with the same crowd.

Yeah, it was pretty quick. But that's because "burger" is the only thing on the menu and they just grabbed two off of the pile.

Yah, Dick's is like a reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally solid fast food burger. It also grows on you. I wasn't blown away by it the first couple of times, but after a few more tries I sometimes can't help but get one when I walk by and the smell of grilled patties is in the air.

Have they always added onions to their burgers? I just walked by the one across from where I live today and it had a sign on the window that said "add chopped onion's to your Dick's burger", and I'm not sure if it's new or I just never noticed it.

My apartment gets hot. Like upwards of 90F on a day like today. I have curtains and a drape on the windows but my apartment still feels like a baking oven. Anyone have an AC unit or a recommendations? I work nightshift and I wake up so often because it's so warm during the day.. grr

I know an AC unit won't be worth it in the long run. But the summer here lasts from june to september right? I think that'd warrant it.

I'm using this because my apartment has those stupid horizontal sliding windows so we can't use normal window units: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0022MNFUG/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Seems to be doing the job well.

Anyone know what happened around Market St. and 8th yesterday? Was taking a bus with some friends around 7PM from Wallingford to Ballard and the bus was completely stopped for ~10-15 min since 8th was blocked.

Another bus had turned onto that street, but since the street was blocked, the other bus needed to back up to get out of there and there was no other way...so police needed to escort the bus as it reversed, which took a while.

Anyway once the bus got out of the way and our bus started moving again, I looked north up 8th and there was a huge commotion of fire trucks, police trucks, and more.

Couple of people got shot at gasworks, but there's no reason that would affect 8th over there.

Aw man Sundance theater has been gobbled up by AMC :(

Yeah, my wife and I walk there pretty regularly. The lobby is absolutely fucked up now, and they replaced two of the local craft beer taps with Blue Moon and Sam Adams. And 20 minutes of stupid programming before the trailers even start.

At least the AMC membership gives you crazy cheap tickets all day on Tuesday.

I couldn't believe this. I went to watch a 9:30 Alien Covenant showing; the actual movie didn't start until 9:55.

The only improvement is that their online ticketing actually works. The old Sundance site didn't half the time for me. But that was part of the charm. :(

The online ticketing is so much better now. I've always wanted to go there for Star Wars but they've never had any sort of "buy tickets in advance" option.

Everything else they've changed SUUCKS. Very glad I used my free ticket the last time I was there when it was a Sundance, curious if they would've honored it now.

I know we're not supposed to speculate, but my wife and I are torn. Should we wait until the market explodes, or buy now?

I'm getting really anxious and it feels like every day this becomes more and more unsustainable.

help :(

It's quite interesting and intense out there. (I'm a bit resigned because I just bought) Consider: "More Than 1,000 People Are Moving to Seattle Every Week" and
"Seattle housing market tops nation in bidding wars and price gains"

I fortunately didn't have a bidding war because the seller accepted our offer before they put it on the market. I wouldn't have got it if it did. Everyone in tech is hiring and everyone is building. I don't see how this slows down yet.

Did you buy in the city?

I wish I had bought something 5 years ago, but graduating from college in 2009 into the biggest economic downturn since the great depression set me back a bit. Now that I finally have enough for a decent down payment, the market has gone completely nuts.

I'm probably gonna move back to Tacoma and buy somewhere in either Hilltop or near Wright Park. I'll gladly deal with the 1hr+ commute knowing I didn't drop half a mil on a 1400sqft crackerbox.

Hey now, I've got 1,800 square feet. :-/

North Tacoma is awesome. I wouldn't have a problem living there.

Haha same here! I was in seat 5c, alone. Took me 20 minutes of website redirects to figure out AMC bought it. My margarita even changed. The staff seem a bit embarrassed about how the change rolled out. Still my favorite local theater though.

Had a blast visiting this time, even abused the bus system and made it to a bunch of places not on the light rail for a change. Thanks for having me.

might have moved ahead of Denver on my relocation list.. maybe

Sundance Theater (or AMC Seattle 10) is still pretty great. The pre-real is obnoxious and there is a separate line for "premiere members". Sorta crappy.

I know there is a festival this weekend and the pride parade is in a couple weeks. Gonna miss both of those since I work D: Anyone know of any good concerts or events for the weekend of the 16th. I'm coming up empty searching on google.

Just a heads up that the Rock and Roll Marathon is Sunday the 18th so streets will be closed for the first half of the day (starts at Husky Stadium, goes through Seward Park, ID and ends at the Century Link). I'll be running!

Ended up going with my mom and niece to the Queen Mary Tea Room in Ravenna for afternoon tea this last Sunday. We had a fun time, the place was quaint, food was delicious, and the tea was great.

How can we be sure that's your mom? You guys don't look at all alike!

Landmark Theaters closed the Seven Gables and Guild 45th suddenly today:

http://www.thestranger.com/slog/2017/06/06/25194802/seven-gables-and-guild-45th-are-closed

I know that some people had been trying to get the Guild 45th declared a historical landmark, but Landmark was not in favor of this, as the rumors are they'd been hoping to sell to a developer.

Half Price Books gone from the U District, Sundance losing some of it's charm, and now these theaters. This sucks.

While I'm sad to see the 45th guild theater close - in principle - in practice, that theater was fucking disgusting, it gave business to pieces of shit like the anti-vaccine movie last year, and I practically never went there for both of those reasons and others despite living just a 10 minute walk away.

I still miss Arnolds (old school video arcade) on the Ave, and that place has been gone for at least 25 years...

Arnolds used to be right here. It was awesome.

Seattle gaf, I been here for about 8 months and my lease in the U district is about up thank god. I work in the U village mall and need a new place that feels like a home i.e. 500sqft+. What's my best bet? Max I can do is about $1200 and would like lower since I am the only one working at the moment. Rent seems to have gone up even more since I got here.
