Aw, this is where I have to provide a gentle reminder that we limit episode requests to the appropriate patron tier. We have like two years' worth of topics we want to tackle already lined up. Sorry to be a downer.

Ah, OK. Don’t recall hearing talk about it lately so I thought those were exhausted. Two years - wow. I’m a backer, but haven’t gone up that far.

Whoa,

Ray finally announced the game he has been working on.

"You'll have to get through some enemy bullet hell, only here, the enemies *are* the bullets. #screenshotsaturday #BlastRush"

"Your ship's main guns are too weak. Fortunately, you have plenty of screen-clearing bombs as your ticket out! #screenshotsaturday #BlastRush"

And it looks really cool.

According to the game's Website:

"Rules are made to be broken, especially in the shoot-em-up genre. In Blast Rush, you have infinite screen-clearing bombs, not just three per life. You'll have to dodge a constant stream of enemy bullet patterns and... well, another little twist: the enemies are the bullets. Things get pretty hectic, but with multiple fighter ships and blast styles, plus one bacon-saving slow-mo power-up, you'll find some way to slip out of trouble. All the best rulebreakers do.

Coming Soon to iOS and Android"

Super Mario Sunshine is one of the best 3D Platformers there is, yet I can't claim that anything said on the episode is untrue or even exaggerated. That's what that game is. It clearly needed a classic Nintendo delay of 6-12 months to make it an A game instead of a B+ sort of title.

Yeah. People gripe about Nintendo's forays into mobile gaming and all, but I'm grateful those ventures exist. They give the company the financial freedom to sit on key titles until they're ready. How long was Breath of the Wild in development? How many iterations did they produce for it? They didn't have that freedom during the GC era and games like Sunshine suffered for it.

My least favorite thing about Sunshine that they didn't mention is how you have to beat specific levels to unlock the last boss instead of reaching a star threshold. It seriously limits the player's freedom, unlike 64 and the Galaxy games, and it completely devalues every shine that isn't part of the main quest to knock over Shadow Mario a dozen times. The other shines are padding that only exist so that the game doesn't feel like it has less content than 64.
