I like that now, 8 years and 5 days after episode 24 of Idle Thumbs, Joe Pesci returns to the Thumbs universe to star in yet another buddy cop movie.

Double billed the last two episodes of Important. Man so good, I was dying at the pretzel, dumpster etc part.

Also, wild Remo spotted..

This is no defense whatsoever, but I did also tell the reporter I'm totally in favor of pot legalization and what they're doing with the 4/20 festival this year, but also yeah it really shits the place up for a few days and it does suck! They only used that last part.

Jesus Christ @ Nick's story on this week's IIT. That's definitely a story that would only happen to Nick Bredon.

Given the first words we hear in Breath of the Wild are the same as in Abre Los Ojos and Vanilla Sky ("Open your eyes."), what's the likelihood that Link is ACTUALLY lucid dreaming in cryonic sleep from Life Extension, and the whole Calamity Ganon is an error and he needs tech support to fix...? I need the Thumbs take!

Oh yeah, I was just pulling your chain a bit. Back when I was a student, I lived right next to the main street of what is pretty much my country's biggest yearly marathon. Tens of thousands of visitors. I know the pain of people just fucking everything up for a couple of days (including our private property, like our back/front yard).

so, this has probably been covered somewhere
but why did sean go mia on the podcast?

They decided having a rotating cast was too volatile for them (in terms of listener expectation) so they decided to just go back to the 3 same hosts like when Idle Thumbs started to try and get some consistency in terms of general feel of the cast and simplifying their scheduling. Or something to that effect.

They wanted to go back to the early days of Idle Thumbs where they had one core group, without so many different guests popping up all the time. I think I remember something about listener numbers increasing if they did it like that.

Vanaman is streaming a ton of games on Twitch though, so you can still get your fill of Famous there. It'd be fun if he popped up more often on the podcast though.

Edit: Yeah what he said. Curse my slow fingers.

Yeah he basically bounced around between himself, Larry David, Seinfeld, and Morty from Rick & Morty as needed. Masterful.

Yes I've been thinking of Nick as Larry David for a long time now, the comparison seemed so obvious I never mentioned it. Occasionally so strong I wonder if he's playing along a bit (not that I mind - he's a master!).

So did Sean decide he really wanted to sponsor a Dota team for this major tournament? Or did Thunderbirds just really enjoy Firewatch?

Hah, I'm listening to the latest IiT (is that abbreviation a thing?), and Chris just talked about his weed interview. Now I'm scared my old man Remo comments from earlier in the thread have been bothering him all week (although I'm sure I'm far from the only one who made that joke). Now I'm imagining him in his sitcom bed next to his wife complaining about kids making fun of him on the internet just because he complained about them partying too hard for an entire week.

Sorry Chris, hope you didn't take it too personally. You're still pretty spry. For your age.

I'm secretly about the same age as you.

I do agree with Jake that you need to make it your mission in life to just show up whenever the local news needs a talking head.

Jake's mention of Great British Bake Off made me so happy. I rolled my eyes when my girlfriend asked me if I wanted to start watching it with her a couple of years ago, but it's actually honestly good. Exactly what Jake said, it's weird how you suddenly realize how many television shows depend on people being a dick to each other.

I hope I don't break your heart here Jake (it's pretty well known over here but I don't know if this news made it all the way to the States), but did you know that Bake Off (as we know it) is kind of over now? Channel 4 bought the show from the BBC, which angered a lot of people because these things matter, and as a result from all that Mel, Sue and Mary Berry announced they'd leave the show. Only Hollywood is staying, and Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig are taking over from Mel and Sue.

All of this really is a bit of a bummer, because once you take those personalities out you just have a bunch of people baking cakes in a tent under a familiar name. It could still be good though - Sandi Toskvig especially is pretty great. She took over from Stephen Fry on QI, and it turned out she's probably the only person who could fill such a large gap. She really is a female Fry - similar sense of comedy, just as smart.

And this was your Bake Off update for the day.

I'd be totally into a new podcast discussing Bake Off every week btw

Oh yeah, that is well knows. I think there are a couple seasons that haven't made it to US television yet but I've watched them all and mourned its passing.

Our build/bake servers at Campo Santo are named Paul and Mary in memory of Bake off.

Guess I need to post this again since there are some people who seem to have already forgotten after 2 page. Wow, how the mind slips!

Posting revenge porn with their real full names then another admin(a now jailed pedophile) printed the photos and jacked off over them and sent it to the boyfriend.

I just heard these guys on the Giant Bombcast, they were fucking great -- never listened to one of their podcasts before, I think I've heard them name dropped on Waypoint a few times, too. Any episodes I should listen too as a priority or am I good to jump in with the latest stuff?

So I finally started listening to Important If True and got a few episodes in. Good stuff, this salt pig discussion was too funny and made me look like a weirdo on a bus.

As if I don't always look like a weirdo

Important If True is pretty new (a dozen or so episodes) so if you don't want/need a gaming podcast you could start from its first episode. Idle Thumbs (the gaming podcast) is less regular these days.

If you want a primer you can listen to this compilation of Idle Thumbs' earlier episodes: https://archive.org/details/this-year-collection/thisyear018_idlethumbsor_56kbps.mp3

You can start wherever, but for entertainment value you could just start at the beginning. They've always talked about a mix of new games and older stuff so most episodes are timeless in a sense.

I say just start from the beginning. The show isn't really about covering current videogames the best anyway so get in on the ground floor.

Alternatively start on episode 65 which is the relaunch after their Kickstarter. It will be a bit more current and excise some of the sporadic language I'm sure they regret from the first few years.
