Damn you guys weren't kidding, rivers in the desert is fucking awesome. Also
this fight would've been a pain the ass if it wasn't for the rank 10 star ability.

Really? I would put the worst palace theme in Persona 5 as about on par with Striptease. I think all of the tracks you've gone through so far, as well some of the ones past 5, outclass everything Meguro did with 4.

Maybe I had too high of expectations? Persona 3 and 4 both gave me (in my opinion) awesome battle/boss, overworld, and dungeon themes. So far Persona 5 has really given me only battle/boss themes. And actually Last Surprise and Blooming Villain had to grow on me (But they rock now).

It's not that what's there is anywhere near bad, it's just not anything I sought outside the game. But I do have plenty of dungeons left. And IM A SHAPESHIFTER had grown on me too, it's just nowhere near stuff like Your Affection or Iwatodai Dorm or When Moon's Reaching Out Stars

I did it, I beat the game!
I was worried at first cuz I wasn't feeling it as much as I expected as far as story-stuff goes, but then come January and on everything managed to really pull through for me in the end. Definitely feel overall pretty satisfied and happy with the game!
Took me a whopping 125+ hours, and managed to get every social link except for Haru's finished! (so close, too! I had her at rank 7.... grrr)

My favorite parts were the stylishness of everything, the unique dungeons, how well they really built up a feeling of friendship between the main characters, and how everyone warms up and becomes likable in the end. I especially like that they made me care for the social links by the end of the game, cuz I really didn't feel much of anything while I was going through their stories. But they really managed to loop it in with the story and gave me a ton of feels afterall. And I loved the ending! I didn't get to finish P4, so my last completed Persona game was 3 and just... boy, nice to not see an ending like that one LMAO

Some stuff I wasn't so happy about included the music (what they had was good, but I felt like there should have been way more!), Those Gay Guys (ugh, good representation in persona when??), and the "sexy" moments over the girls (which always just felt really out of place and kinda cringey for me). The
Hawaii
trip in general was just.. way Bad imo.
(Spoilers for December stuff)
Akechi dying also made me really bummed. Damn it, he was my favorite even if he did go bad. I wanted a way for him to live on and redeem himself. :(((

So yeah, overall pretty fun game! Complaints for it were pretty minor in the grand scheme of everything else going right for it. Definitely glad I picked it up (and that I don't regret buying all the merch that already came out LMAO).

I made it through the interrogation successfully, apparently, but is there a way to fail it so that Sae doesn't believe you and you get a different ending? Do you get a trophy for seeing that ending or anything?

When Mementos requests come up do they need an event to investigate? I have 2 that are question marks and one says I can find him near the school gates, the other says the mall, but there's no one at either location that I can investigate.

if you rat out any of your teammates. Not sure about the trophy

He killed Futaba's mother and Haru's father plus a lot of innocent people in the subway accidents, there's no redeeming that.

1. He is actually around there. There are 2 students talking and you can listen to their conversation.
2. I think you need to work at the Flower Shop 3 times to unlock that?

No trophy related to that.

This is the one part of the game that fell flat for me.

[Major endgame spoilers]
Like, I loved Akechi. Loved when he joined us. I'm part of the unobservant crowd who got completely blindsided by his betrayal (damn pancake like slipped through the cracks), and I'm usually the first person to sympathize with a horrible person. But Akechi had done so much awful shit, not to mention straight up planned to put a bullet in my brain. The rest of the team was like "you can still join us Akechi!!" and I was just thinking seriously? The guy who blew out my cognitive brains? Please no.

The work they do with Morgana in the endgame is nothing short of an astounding turnaround IMO. In mid-September I was starting to sour on him and really wasn't into the character at all, but by the end I really loved him and
was sad when I thought he was gone.
Never would have expected that earlier in the story.

I knooowwww, but I can't help still really liking him regardless. :(((
I mean he's a kid, too, who also got manipulated in the grand scheme of things. I just wish he had a different life, or that somehow things could have gone differently so he could have just had a big switching-sides redemption arc or something. Especially cuz it seemed to me that he also wished things had been different.
(And this is just me selfishly wishing things were different, not actively thinking the plot should have been changed or anything, of course)

just wanted to chime in & say i love this game, and how much it's throwing back to 2/the classic series...but while i enjoy the exposition, the mid to latter half of july has been some ol' bullshit that doesn't let me do dick. it's been like a week or two since i could control anything, shit gets annoying when it goes for this long.

I just realized something. The seven deadly sins motif was done before in (arguably) the first Persona game (Shin Megami Tensei: If) and there they just omitted a World of Lust. Interesting that we finally got one second time around.

I guess image is technically a spoiler since it's late game fusion so I won't embed it but my god

I am so fucking pleased with what I've created lmao, I just need almighty amp, I'll probably swap drain phys for it, maybe eventually ditch black viper for victory cry.

You don't really need both Black Viper and Morning Star, just keep the latter, replace one of them with Ali Dance. Take out Concentrate and replace with Angelic Grace. Then you truly have one Almighty monster.

Yeah black viper is just a left over from when I fused him originally lol he still needs some work :p. I'm thinking once I fully finish my first play through (still mid palace 7 lol) I'll do something like, replace spell master with victory cry, replace black viper with auto mataru, ditch conc for almighty amp and get angelic grace in there.

Well I'm rapidly approaching what I think is the end of the game...I'm probably going to finish out not maxing out only Empress, Hanged Man, and Devil, which is way better than I expected to do when I first started. Should be pretty easy to do a Max Confidant runthrough since I'm going to end around 5-6 for Devil and Empress and might get to even 8 or 9 with Hanged Man depending on when the final day to do stuff is. Also I really hope I can grind out the Futaba line trophy before the game ends. I've been switching out people and using everyone in the party the whole game so I'm hoping I'm just a few status effect lines away from popping it.

7th Palace Spoilers:

Akechi fight and Shido fight were both awesome and really felt like finale showdowns. Shido's battle theme is probably one of the top three tracks in the game, too. And having the Star confidant maxed out before going into both those battles made them way more epic. For Shido I was hot-swapping out like crazy and it felt justified that the entire team was getting in on taking him down. Poor Akechi though. :(

That being said, wooooow was the 7th dungeon padded. The rat mazes were cute at first but the fact that nothing was added to them for variety's sake was just ridiculous. At least the music was good - I probably would have gone nuts if there was a Mementos-like-theme while having to do that repetitive stuff.

Overall I'd say my palace rankings are 5 > 3 > 6 > 7 > 4 > 1 > 2.

Huh, I guess it's just the outlines. It looked like she had some sort of unzipped bodysuit situation going on

Yeah, the coloring and linework definitely makes it look like she's unzipped her bodysuit and has a bare chested thing going on.
Did a double take at that. Especially egregious with Necronomicon's whole "Cthulhu Tentacle" theme.

I wasn't sure about the credits song at first but it has really grown on me after more listens. Not sure how I'd rank it against "Kimi No Kioku," or "Nevermore" quite yet though.

Well hooooly shit, Spoilers up to the start of the 7th palace:

Before I finished the 6th palace, I had many theories at various points. I notice "pancakes"
back when it happened and immediately suspected Akechi. I kept suspecting him and figured he was the one in the black mask that killed Okumura's Shadow. Then he actually joined and I thought "Hmm, maybe not, as maybe they wouldn't have let me waste money on equipment and skill cards for him. I was definitely wrong there.

I thought Shadow Sae was a rather lame boss. At first I was overthinking it and thought I had to look for some kind of pattern to exploit when the roulette. I went through it 3 or 4 times, saw the obvious glass, but thought the answer was still a pattern. I didn't realize there would be answer choices. I blame my mainline SMT logic. After that, the battle was just easy unless you got screwed over by the roulette, and even then it wasn't that hard. The first try I was an idiot and took the SMT methodology and Sukukaja/Rakukaja when major attack is coming. Second time it was a breeze.

One suspicion I had immediately upon getting to the casino was when they pointed out how close the police station was to the courthouse. I thought that the interrogation with Sae was all in the Metaverse. I was partially correct on that, but did not quite expect the entire plot to fake Joker's death. At first I thought it seemed oddly convenient to blank out the missing memories, but then I remembered that everything was technically Joker remembering the past, so it made more sense with the drugs. The bit with making Akechi kill Joker in the Metaverse was genius.

Out of curiosity, I sold out my friends the first time. I did not expect it to actually end with credits and offer me to start a new game+. It made going through it the second time for real have a better experience because I would see the same death of Joker, but wondered how this was different.

One thing I was unclear on, and maybe this was to be explained later, but are they really going to ignore the fact that the police all know about the Metaverse now? Seems like something they would want to investigate more unless the implication is that Shido has them under his thumb so they don't care.

I was a little disappointed that the SIU Director we had been seeing the whole game remained nameless and died. It was always obvious he wasn't top of the food chain, but I felt like a character with a portrait that was shown so prominently should have been given a bit more.

Will I get to go back and do more confidants/Mementos? Or am I chained to Leblanc and the palace for the rest of the game?

Finished the game at around 130 hours.

Had to switch to safe mode for the last couple of battles cause I was screwed and didn't want to spend hours upon hours of grinding .

While I really enjoyed the story in the end . What I feel after finishing the game is a huge amount of frustration.

I decided going in blind and not seeking advice for min maxing social links and knowing which ones I should upgrade absolutely . And this ended up completely ruining my run.

I tried my best , i even spent suite some time grinding in mementos while it's mostly useless but in the end I barely maxed out a quarter of the social links, I didn't have bad ass personas and I spend a third of the game being stressed about time management .

In the end I regret going blind and I think telling newcomers to the series to just play the way they feel like it is bad advice as it really soured my experience.

I'm in the 5th palace right now and there's something I've been wondering that doesn't make sense to me.
How come Haru was able to enter Okumura's palace without the nav app? In fact, how was Morgana able to enter? You could argue that he's special and always being able to enter palaces as he wishes, but if that's the case, why didn't he do that for all the previous palaces (except for the Kamoshida's castle) when they were trying to find out their key words? The whole Haru becoming a phantom thief and joining the gang came pretty out of nowhere.

You don't need the Nav app to enter if someone else near you activates it. Same way Ann followed you into Kamoshida's Palace.

yeah, but Morgana doesn't have an app right? Or is simply activating the palace enough? Also, if that's the case, why didn't all those people on the street enter Kaneshiro's palace when they activated the app on a busy street in Shibuya :p

Ok, so new persona player here . Really enjoying the game , although not sure when tutorial stopped and went into real game , took me 9 hours to finish first palace , which game kinda told me was the tutorial . Loving the story , characters , dark style themes . Combat is fun too but I have much to learn in these combos etc , seems like Pokemon with demons .

So my question is how many palaces are there ? Just interested to get overall length of the game , even though I'm all invested already .

Got a a lot of reading to do about this , I can tell already ! Great job Atlus !
