What is Hearthstone?
Hearthstone is a free-to-play online Collectible Card Game (F2POCCG, which is a real genre) from Blizzard, based on the Warcraft universe. Choose a hero corresponding to one of the nine classes in Vanilla WoW and create a deck using their signature mechanics to fight other players in Casual or Ranked matchmaking. Earn Gold for every three wins and use the Gold to buy booster packs in order to expand your card pool, or use the Gold to purchase a ticket to the Arena where you construct your own deck on the fly using a random pool of all cards in the game. There is no offline play, but there are singleplayer adventure modes.

Download the client (Windows, Mac) on the main site. Note, you will also need a Blizzard account to log in to their launcher.

How to play Hearthstone?
I'm not going to go into that here, just play the tutorial to learn the game.

How to really play Hearthstone?
Read articles, apply critical thinking, watch good streamers.

Is there an in-game/player-driven economy?
No. There is no card trading or buying cards from other players and there probably won't be anytime in the foreseeable future. In its place is a crafting system. You can disenchant cards you do not want for arcane dust. You can then use that arcane dust to craft cards you do want.

Is this game Pay2Win?'
Of a sort. The thing you should know about Hearthstone is that if you're not going to pay money, plan on playing a lot (read: grinding) or becoming really good at Arena. The longer a player has played, the bigger their card pool will be. This means that an older, frequent player will always have better cards than a newer player. This is just an unavoidable part of collectible card games.

A paying player can save a lot of time by buying boosters, but it's not cheap and they're not guaranteed the best of the best cards, which is, in the end, what separates good decks from the best decks. Buying some boosters right off, however, will help you build a foundation to reliably win games in order to get Gold.

If you really hate not having good cards, then stick to Arena, which is a "level" playing field for a certain definition of "level".

What's the balance like?
This far post release, the Hearthstone team is committed to only affecting balance changes when they are "absolutely necessary".

If I like MTG/YGO/blah blah blah, will I like this?
Hearthstone is simplistic compared to games like MTG and YGO. The reason for this is because of Hearthstone's asynchronous turns, which means that you can't make any moves on your opponents turns. Hearthstone does have it's own particular brand of complexity, but it's really designed from the ground up to be a "pick up and play game". If you're looking for a hardcore card game experience like MTG, you won't find it here, but if you're looking for a streamlined card game experience you can jump in and out of whenever you want, then Hearthstone is right for you.

Anyway it's free, so you don't lose much by giving it a shot.

Are they going to reveal the legendary today? It seems like people didn't show up to vote. I think it was supposed to be today.

Smuggler's run... lets see... it seems to fit the power curve they're pushing. It's a cheap 1 mana spell so perhaps even stronger than the 2 drop, although it doesn't get buffed by the other buff cards.

Return of the 1 mana yeti? But seems a lot more balanced than undertaker due to the investment you make.

Maybe next time Mobius lol.

It was rigged!

Oh, the return of Minibot to standard is coming thanks to that card. And it makes the 2 mana 1/1 that buffs the hand on turn 2 not that much of a tempo loss.

I thought it was on Friday.

The buffs are far more applicable to weenie divine shield or deathrattle minions. A very mild example is like a Runic Egg. You buff it 2-3 times it becomes a 2/4-3/5 draw a card on death for 1 mana. That's too small to waste removal on but big enough that you have to deal with and even if you do they still come ahead because of the draw. Put it on like that new Paladin Legendary, Silent Knight, Argent Squires etc... it starts to form a very annoying archetype. You don't want to be in a position where you are forced to waste Hex on a 4/4 Divine Shield minion that actually costed 1 mana.

I think the strongest minion in this kind of deck would actually be something like Argent Horserider. If you buff it twice it becomes a 4/3 divine shield charger, which is even better than Argent Commander, a 6 mana card. You definitely want to play minions where receiving the +1/+1 is even better than it would be than receiving +1/+1 on a vanilla minion. Even a card like Acolyte of Pain would qualify.

Topdecking with the snowball paladin is going to be miserable.

You're still gonna have late game. Probably ragnaros lol. Tirion of course. Maybe rag lightlord too.

In fact, top decking with balladin might be great since small time recruits guarantees you to cycle your 1 mana minions out, giving you a higher chance of those big guys showing up on time. And you also have that 1 drop loot hoarder type dude to help thin the deck as well.

Balladin. Ball-so-hard-adin. I am liking this.

Also is it just me or are we seeing a LOT of cheap spells this expansion? I think lots of classes are getting close to the point where they could run miracle/spell heavy decks and Arcane Giants. Many already do and they are getting cheap spells too.

If auctioneer were still 5 mana, I think definitely. But at 6 mana it's really hard to string together enough draw to be worth it, at least that is my impression. Unless you have 0 mana spells like druid and rogue do.

Mike Donais clarified on Reddit that the English name of the card is Smuggler's Run.

If the worst thing about the election for you guys is this thread title, you live a privileged life.

I guess the hand buff paladin would look something like this?:

http://www.hearthpwn.com/deckbuilde...41:2;49662:2;49666:2;49667:2;49675:1;49676:2;

Backroom bouncer could be fun in this type of deck. Give it +2/+2 and have 2 minions die and you got a 4 mana 8/6.

Does steward of darkshire buff 1 health minions that are buffed?

Grimestreet smuggler just doesn't seem that good tbh. Reminds me of sunshattered cleric with better stats. I guess it might look better once it's a 3/5.

I mean, I get the thread title origin, but man, do I have to be reminded about D. Trump every time I click this thread?

Because nothing else he will do in the next 4 years as president of the most powerful nation in the world will remind you of him...

Sorry to say, but you're going to be reminded of Donald Trump constantly over the next four years. At least.

All we’re left to do is wonder whether Midrange Shaman will hit 56% by the time we take our expansion hiatus. Is Midrange Shaman the most overpowered deck in the history of the game or was Undertaker Hunter still more oppressive? An interesting question to ponder.

The ladder is being spammed with the archetype and the community is looking forward to the new expansion to reset the Meta. Such ladder dominance has not been seen since the days of Secret Paladin.

This is really good with evolve. Turn 6, summon 3 random 6-cost minions. Explains why Big-Time Racketeer was printed even more than Moonglade Portal.
