So, wait. Some posts in here were deleted? I'm late to the party so I'm wanting to make sure Reddit has the timeline right?

It wasn't anything major. Just minor stuff relating to GlassBox's identity when DetectiveGAF was going at it. EviLore showed up and cleaned it up, I think and banned GlassBox.

I think the ones that were deleted had some personal information, so that's possibly why they were nuked (speculation on my part). In terms of context to what happened, I don't think you missed anything you couldn't infer from what's already posted.

Correct. Or rather, you beat me! Edit: Beaten!!! :p

Another "update" from Lucy, not sure if it's been posted already.

I haven't played SimCity (and probably won't at this point), but it's really weird to me that they don't use these updates to apologize for their continuing service problems. These posts still just sound like evasive PR speak. Everything's fine! We promise it will be better soon! Why are they afraid to say the word sorry? Everything they do say is shrouded in this weird corporate dissonance.

The IGN account's been scrubbed it seems. And the Steam ID attached to it has been deleted or changed (Steam isn't finding it's profile unless I'm searching wrong). Seems the internet shouted him down or EA told him to nuke everything to hide proof of their spin?

hahajason AKA Jason Lee, Interactive Design Specialist at EA.

I just googled his battle.net name, found an unused youtube account that had the URL hahajason1 and the name of Jason Lee, searched that name and found a linkedin profile that matches up with the IGN profile.

"I’ll keep this short since almost everyone who cares is busy building cities and making friends in SimCity."

Haha get out of here. Everyone who cares is bombing the internet at how badly this launch has been botched.

Even if he truly believes he was being completely neutral, if there's the slightest whiff of a conflict of interest, you disclose it. Basic ethics, not a complicated concept.

Completely deserves being called out and banned for his shit.

Totally agree. I appreciate this forum's integrity to make sure these sorts of people aren't able to push their agenda here. Good riddance. So glad i skipped this mess of a game.

Is it sad that I want this to be the downfall of EA?

I found that opening statement to be extremely presumptuous and even arrogant.

It is arrogant as hell, "I’ll keep this short since almost everyone who cares is busy building cities and making friends in SimCity."

Yeah ...

Do you really need to say something like this? What goes through your head to believe this thought is a good one?

Man I am really surprised by how big of a disaster this game is. I mean... it's a city-building game. It's not like it was World of Warcraft 2 and everyone had insane expectations. People just want to put buildings on a grid and make sure everything's connected. It's amazing how such a simple game has seemingly gone out of its way to make everyone angry.

For single-city sure but none of the region features work offline. Which can actually screw you over quite often with the server issues if you're relying on another city for services

To be fair they don't work all that much better online either.

Most likely explanation: EA was afraid that an SP only game like SimCity would be pirated to hell and back, so they saddled it with online DRM and tried to justify it with some social/multiplayer features.
Another major reason is so that you cannot mod it, otherwise that would take away from their massive DLC profit targets.
