Cause The Eclipse is the thing people most remember. People with any dignity usually opt to not spoil that and every thing else isn't as pivotal in a sense, but there's a good amount of stuff that happens that effects the world and story still.
Golden Age is boring because it lacks the best character of the manga:

Not yet, just at the part where the King of Midland dies, there's a plague, people are having premonitions of Griffiths return, Guts had his sword reforged and is about to head out in search of Caska while the holy order or whatever lady is on trial for fucking up Guts' capture
He's pretty much the exact opposite of Wyald in a lot of ways.
