So, who's riding the bikes y'think in a scene where they go barreling down a city street? Melissa McCarthy and who?

I know Feig is doing his own takes on things and I'm really liking what I'm seeing so far but the packs have to, HAVE TO make the classic sound when they're turned on and used. It's a must. That will break the movie for me. Everything else could be perfect but that sound has to stay or I will be so broken hearted.

It could be they only have 1 bike, and they are using 2 on the set. It's pretty typical in movies to have a backup.

I'm really interested what this movie will be like. All the vehicles and props are cobbled together just like the original but the reboot ones seem a bit less refined than the original as well. I wonder how this new team is formed and what kind of scientific background, if any, they may have.

When is it expected to be released to theatres again? I plan on watching it. I'm hoping it's a tremendous success. It would be nice to see the franchise grow again in done manner.

Next July is when it's supposed to come out.

Instead of, you know, an eccentric vintage car, which the original Ecto 1 most certainly is at this point, being 56 years old (57 when the movie comes out) and an impractical choice for heavy-duty, demanding work. Sorry, no dig at you specifically Wingfan, that's just been rolling around my head since Feig showed us the new Ecto, I had to say somethin'

From what I remember, one of them is a scientist or teacher at a university, and one of them was really in to paranormal research and wrote a book about it at one point? Then she has an assistant too. Or maybe the assistant left and became the teacher?

At any rate at least two of them are scientists, possibly three (I believe the researcher has an assistant when the movie takes place), and then there's the fourth "Everyman" character.

Not a bad thing for me. I loved the cartoon series and the figure line. Cartoon(and comic) did an awesome job expanding the Ghostbusters universe with bizarre supernatural things and strange gadgets. Real imaginative shit that is always a welcome sight in my eyes.

I didn't realise the synopsis had actually been revealed, but according to Wikipedia:

Erin Gilbert (Wiig) and Abby Bergman (McCarthy) are a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. A few years later Gilbert lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia University, but her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Gilbert reunites with Bergman and others when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.

Well doing a google search, it was already posted by Paul Feig himself. I would take that as a sign as being OK.

To be honest... I kind of like it.

The original Ecto was a 1950's Chevy Cadillac hearse, it was roughly a 30 year old car in 1984. This appears to be a early 80's Chevy Caprice hearse roughly a 30 year old car in 2015.

huh? The new car without context just looks like a bad kit car of the original. My statement was more towards the fact that I can't see it as a true new ecto yet since my mind just goes right to the original, which as I said before looks like a local car show knock off of the original. The movie may sway me into loving the new one but as it sits now I just can't get that image out of my mind.

I mean, my behind the scene photos, me with the Ecto, etc.

I had so many butterflies it's silly, and I'm a huge Ghostbusters fan. Don't want to abuse my thread privileges, though.

Thought so, because the "all female cast" was rumored awhile ago (2012 I think).
Just making sure since long planning cycle.

Though even before Ramis' death, Sony had been developing the project for years and had failed to find a script they were happy with (or could get talent on board with - Jonah Hill passed on it only a few months before Ramis' death, according to the leaked Sony emails).

It was mostly cause Murray didn't want to do it. Then Ramis died and it would have been pointless to do a third film with only half the Ghostbusters so that's when they went full steam ahead on a reboot.

Thank god. I actually like Hill quite a bit as a comedian after Jump Street but he was not the right fit for Ghostbusters

The last one I remember before this was the borderline sequel/ reboot that was being directed by Ivan Reitman with a script overseen by Harold Ramis and written by writers from The Office (The NBC version). I think some of the original Ghostbusters were planned on returning, possibly Ramis and Aykroyd, but Bill Murray was on the fence and said that he wouldn't do it unless the script was good and if they killed his character.

Harold Ramis passed away in 2014 though, so I am not sure when this new reboot started with an all female cast. There has been so many proposed sequels and reboots that it is hard to keep track of them all.

I think Aykroyd tried to pitch them his "Ghostbusters in Hell" script many times, but they passed on that too. But yeah, I vaguely remember reading about the Jonah Hill thing too.

I like the concept of using a car that's dated on the same scale as the original movie, it's just unfortunate that the boxy, 80's equivalent is kind of bland and nowhere near as cool or interesting looking.

I mean, from what I could tell on set today it's looking like they work out of an old Chinese restaurant. I got to see some extra props and they're all rough looking. They're a little more low-budget this time around.

Looks like nobody was willing to pull a third mortgage like Ol' Ray.

It's the sad state of things in the 80's, everything was boxy. But I have a weird nostalgia for those boxy 80's cars, so it is kind of cool with me. My first car was a two door 1985 Chevrolet Caprice with a V8. Fun times. Using the original car in 2015 would be fan service overkill. Using a modern car would come off as stealth product placement. I think they made a good choice here... It is a nice throwback to the 1984 movie, but has a look of its own.

This one is fine but again if they are rebooting the film, why are they calling back to the original concepts. Can't they come up with something fresh and create something new ? Shouldn't call it the Ecto-1 either.

Problem is it looks like a generic hearse but slightly older, the original despite being around the same age looked so out of place and unique in the 80's.
