Applied, if any idiot can get it working with Unity then I will support it.
I was wondering if they would do something like this to get the ball rolling on native support implementations.
I've already got one preordered, what's the dev edition?
Sooooooo....
When is Dudebro II scheduled to be out, more or less?
Because I one time volunteered an idea to the game project and it's all volunteer-based so technically I'm a developer. This will totally work!

Isn't this supposed to be coming out soon? :/

It's for development teams to get one instead of having to buy one so they can make Steam controller support natively instead of having to patch it in/hack it in later. Also means the developers can make a control scheme for the "default" of the controller instead of relying on the community to do that legwork.Originally Posted by H3XAntiStyle

It's going to be the same as the retail controller, just with probably less restrictions/"locks" on it to allow the developers to debug/etc their stuff. You have to sign up as a developer house anyway, so this isn't meant for consumers.
Basically: If you're asking what it is, it isn't for you.
Basically to include native support for upcoming games or to provide native support or their own bindings for current games. While bindings work very well and have lots of flexibility and customisation, native support can offer a whole bunch of bespoke ways to apply the controller - particularly for the trackpads.Originally Posted by H3XAntiStyle

Also the developer version is probably free
Heh, Valve certainly likes to take their time with these. First the Vive DKs starting to go out early summer, now this. Though for a controller it's probably not that bad. October/November is still a couple of months way. Though it depends on when they send them out. This is only sign-ups lolOriginally Posted by Seanspeed

Oh, it's probably the same. Only free.Originally Posted by H3XAntiStyle
I figure, but it seems odd to me that they'd send out a "dev edition" of a completed controller. I'm wondering if its the same as what everyone else is getting, or what.
Do I have to be a dev to sign up for this? :3
Signed up, would be nice to dev for it since I reckon our game fits it quite well (turn-based strategy) and we kinda missed the train on the orders.
Is it true the controller takes AA batteries or was that just the prototype?
It's true, it's on its store page.
