The Berenstein Bears: We Are Living in Our Own Parallel Universe

Because of this theory's popularity in the conspiracy theory thread, I wanted to introduce the rest of GAF to this absolute mindfuck and see if we could solve this together.

Now many of you might remember the popular children's book and cartoon series known as the Berenstein Bears. The thing is, it's actually called the Berenstain Bears. There are no official records of a name change yet many insist that at some point in time, the spelling was Berenstein, not Berenstain. This theory seeks to offer an explanation:

http://woodbetweenworlds.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-berenstein-bears-we-are-living-in.html

This is generally referred to as the Berenstein/Berenstain Bears alternate universe theory

A TL;DR from reddit:

Basically, we used to live in a universe where it was indeed spelled with an E. There was another alternate universe where it was spelled with an A. If you check now, it is spelled with an A, and always was. Some time between the 90s and today, the "A" universe overlapped the E universe, and now we live in the A universe.

It genuinely confused me when I first heard it. I swear it was spelled 'Berenstein' and there are conflicting reports everywhere. Many believe it was always Berenstain and children commonly read it as Berenstein and remember it as such but many online claim that it was changed at some point without any real indication.

Some believe this is an example of the phenomena known as the "Mandela Effect" where many people seem to have real memories of events that never occurred. The theory gets its name from the individuals who had the memory of reading/hearing about Nelson Mandela dying in prison, while no such event ever occurred. Looking deeper into the theory, one can see claims of converging timelines, where tiny details change and overlap, giving us memories of events that occurred in timelines other than our own.

One of the more popular examples of the Mandela Effect is the image of Henry VIII eating a turkey leg, a painting that appears to have never actually been created (The image here was created from memory) yet some people do remember such a thing existing. Oh and the Simpsons already parodied it

Now, back to how this fits in with the bears. Our current timeline is the "A Timeline" where BeranstAin is the correct spelling. We formerly inhabited the "E Timeline" but at some point the two alternatte timelines crossed and the E's were changed to A's, changing BerenstEin to BerenstAin. This is the Mandela Effect at work. We have memories from a timeline other than ours when two alternate universes unknowingly converged at some point in time.

Odds are it was probably always fucking Berenstain and the internet is overthinking things as always

Edit: Possible evidence that many people in this thread might not be insane:

I didn't fact check this (because come on) but here is help for our sanity.

Edit 2: A brief explanation as to what is going on in the universe:

AnonymousAugust 21, 2014 at 4:38 PM
This can more or less be explained with Casualty.

Something from a similar Universe slipped into ours (wormhole, blackhole), due to this our Universe started pulling the other Universe incrementally in (In our time perception) to eliminate errors, as the only option is assimilation, which has a chance of following with destruction.

And, due to this, the foreign objects in our Universe also started pulling our Universe to the other Universe, thus assimilation, as time goes by, the two Universes swap out objects ad infinitum, eventually realizing the loop both Universes begin deleting the foreign objects, to keep the other Universe from pulling and pushing, this has two effects, it can keep the both Universe stable with minimal loss, or it can destroy one or both Universe due to everything being deleted. (Even the Universe itself may pull other in, due to how this works)

So, again, this ends in either assimilation or destruction, for one or both Universes.

If I am correct, and didn't leave anything out, the Berenstein Bears and Berenstain bears are a symptom of this.

Edit 3: GAF, we need to go deeper:

So I just fucked with my wife's dream state.

I woke her up and while she was still half asleep, I asked her to spell Berenstein. She asked why I don't just grab a book in the laziest, sleepiest voice. I wanted her to spell it. She mumbled out the letters, pausing after every 2 or 3 to breathe and finished with "ain". I walked away saying "You're not part of this timeline".

Should I Inception her right now?

OR

When she's awake, maybe she'll spell it "ein" when asked. Only in our dreams are we vulnerable to the logic of this forced timeline.

Edit 4: More Universe Overlapping stuff:

I think the movie Interview with The Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles is a weird one.

I've always been a fan of the movie and I thought it was called Interview with A Vampire.

I own the dvd and checked the box, and it's apparently always been that long ass title.

Edit: What's weird is that it's still called Interview with a Vampire in French and German, very weird.

Did Occam's razor got broken into pieces like the Soul Reaver or what? is parallel Universes really the most simple explanation?

This is much more interesting than our brains reading Berenstain as stein because it's a much more common latter half last name just like if you read "raeccar" really quickly in a paragraph and your mind automatically registered it as racecar.

I guess I don't remember the spelling because I was a kid but I do remember always pronouncing it "BerenstEEn"...

Maybe we all collectively rejected the A because -"stain" is such a weird

For the record, I remembered it as "The Barenstein Bears by Jan and Stan Barenstain"

Young me had that the authors' last name was not the same as the characters.

Arkos

Nose how to spell and rede to
Blew my fucking mind when I read it in the conspiracy thread. #teamparallel

I've heard this before. But honestly chalk it up to Berenstain being a odd spelling. I always thought it was Bernstein. I just never paid much attention to the actual spelling.

Another theory floating out there is the locations of Australia and New Zealand relative to each other.

http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread543455/pg67

Some people swear New Zealand should be north of Australia. While in this reality its south.

The most interesting thing about this story is how easy it is to introduce niggling doubts into the internet's collective consciousness to the point where people will actually entertain the notion that we might be experiencing interdimensional phenomena over, you know, our young brains just being wrong about shit.

I think that many remember it as "Berenstein" because that's how it's pronounced, or at least that's how it sounds when said fast:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQjgQEX7zug

So we probably heard it said that way as a child (thru audiobook, the TV show, or our parents reading to us), and thus:
underdeveloped child brains + passage of time diluting memory = us thinking it was spelled "Berenstein".

Seems a more likely and simpler explanation than this alternate universe nonsense.

What on earth? I had plenty of Berenstein Bears books growing up - I distinctly remember the spelling being BerenstEin. Why the hell would it have ever been BerenstAin? There is some cosmic trickery afoot...

I'm going to go rummage through my old childhood books to see if I can find it - I'm positive I have relics from the E Universe. If so, I'm going to try and go back to that original timeline to see if I can alter some past events.

For the life of me I can't remember who the 5th Eagle was.

edit:
holy shit what is this Berenstain madness?

how many dimensions must I fall through until I get back home?

does no one else remember Los Osozanos Osos

I was literally just talking about this with one of my friends. Everyone I know remembers it as Berenstein.

That's the original unless I am missing something.

That's the joke. In an alternate timeline, it had a different title. But yeah, I don't necessarily remember it being spelled as Berenstain, but I do remember being surprised at the spelling every time I looked at it, so it's not that surprising to me. I think our minds just assumed it was stein since it's much more common to see last names end with "stein" versus "stain".

Edit: Unless the original thread title was Berenstain.

Nope, I made the original title "The Berenstain Bears: We Are Living in Our Own Parallel Universe" because that's what the series is currently called.

I used Google to see if mods sent us back to the E Timeline but it looks like we're still in the 'A' one.

The names are really similar. Your brain can really fuck with you; memories can really fuck with you. Don't overthink things.

But it's definitely proof that we live in a parallel universe.

I didn't even remember what the song was,so knowing the correct spelling doesn't mean much for me.

Berenstein
