UPDATE 6

UPDATE 5

There is a translation out there. Credit to IceTea7!

Here's a summary:

-There are 4 types Heavy, Shoot, Speed and Unique.

-Each character has 1 HP attack at first but learns more as you level up.

-Heavy's main characteristic is a wide attack radius. Speed is high mobility. Shoot is having long range attacks. Unique is somebody that doesn't belong to the above.

-Firion is a heavy-type who specializes in ground attacks. His combo system from 012 is expanded and now has a 3rd attack with 3 variations. Only has one air attack which is Sword Blow. HP Attack is Lord of Arms and EX skill is Blood Weapon.

-Cecil is a Heavy-type who can switch between Paladin and Dark Knight. Paladin is a Heavy-Speed hybrid and DK is a Heavy-Shoot hybrid. His EX is Job change, when it's used he gains extra stats for brief period of time. Paladin has 3 air braves and one ground. DK has 3 ground and 1 air.

-Bartz is a Unique-type Job Master, each move represents a job. He is late-game type character comparable to late-game carries from MOBA and RTS games. His early game is weak but as he masters his jobs (by using a move repetitively) the move is upgraded and he gains a special buff(i.e Dragoon's buff is Defence Up), HP attack doesn't give a buff. His Jobs are Monk, Dragoon, Black Mage, Mystic Knight, Blue Mage, Hunter, Ninja and Samurai. EX Skill is Lucky Charm(?) and gives his buffs to his allies.

-All summons have a bonus effect. Ifrit is Attack up, Shiva is Base Brave Up and Ramuh is EX Skill Recharge up.

Previously announced character's balance changes and director comments:

-WoL's EX Skill is no longer global, has a limited range. Shield of Light stuns opponent when guarding a brave attack.

-OK's type change to Unique instead of Speed. The closer he is to the enemy when using a physical attack the more his EX gauge fills. Vice-versa for magic. This concept was planned for the first Dissidia but wasn't implemented apparently.

-Terra voice is based on her personality after fighting Phunbaba.

-Cloud is strong in separating an enemy from his group and fighting them 1v1. His charge can be dodge cancelled now.

-As opposed to OK, Lightning is still a speed type.

-Y'shtola's specialises in supporting her allies and her spells have a bonus effects other than damage as in FFXIV. Aero applies a DoT, Stone applies a slow and Blizzara binds the enemy. She can heal her allies too apparently.

If that's the case it's weird how we've heard little about it. The last news was Squall and Bartz a few months back.

I actually thought of making a thread when it didn't show up at TGS but thank god we're going to find out more soon.

News on this game has been kind of slow lately, huh

Well we might get some new gameplay soon at least

Hopefully new characters reveal soon.

And hopefully it's successful enough for them to add lots of characters by the time the console version comes =X

I'm really not having high hopes for this game. Koei is developing this right? Maybe that's why.

They helped make DQ heroes and Hyrule warriors, whats not to like? They're not the same ps2 dev any more, hell they've done so well that they save Tecmo. PC ports are the only thing i'll say are meh from them. But with this being a joint project with SE, i doubt this will look bad.

Team Ninja is helping with dev.

In terms of fighting games they put out the last DoA, which is considered to be the best game in the series (and the most balanced/competitive).
Also known for it's DLCs, but hey.

I think some of the staff (like the director iirc) is still the same from Dissidia/Duodecim.

And since this will certainly be a commentary, Square already said they didn't let the DoA boob physics to be put into Dissidia.

I just hope they'll still consider a PS4 port after the arcade release. I know the game wasn't well received during its locktest so hopefully they managed to change things around already. This is my most hyped game for 2016, so it'd kill me if they decided not to go through with a port next year

PS4 port is pretty much guaranteed.

Ya I have faith in Tecmo, Team Ninja, and SE. Seeing all those FF heroes in HD is already awesome. This is def on my buy list when it comes to PS4 next year, I loved Dissdia but being on PSP always held it back.

(Also happy that Y'Sholta is in the game, can't wait to hear about more new characters).

The arcade station is a modified PS4. There is no way that a PS4 console version is not planned.

Nice. The sooner the Arcade version is released, the sooner we will get the PS4 version. Hopefully fall 2016 worldwide!

Awesome.

Can't wait for this on PS4. 2016 is going to be NNNNUUUUUTTTTSSSS

played it alot on my psp. can't wait to see it on my big screen

game is built on slightly modified PS4 hardware. It is coming.

Now is the time to hurry up and wait for the PS4 version. Or PC, or whatever option doesn't require I leave my house and have to pay a fee for each session.

Can't wait. I'm going in on Ramza once he gets added to the roster.

So is the roster just going to be protagonists of the mainline games?

If their goal is to have 50+ characters eventually, I'm sure we'll have more than just the protags.

Hasemo

Can't wait to play it again, the location test was really fun (aside from having to wait 6 hours to play).

Don't get too excited (unless you live the Arcade Wonderland of Japan)

Tekken 7 released in Arcade in February and we've still yet to hear a peep about any console news since then. The arcade cycle is slow and arduous.

How many characters is it releasing with again?

I know they wanted to continue adding some after the release to eventually make it 50.

My god, 50!? I'm assuming that means they're going to include at least 4 variations of Lightning, right? Ya know, since she's a popular character and all :p

Oh god, please - for the love of all things comedy - please let any of these make the roster.

Nice. I wonder what kind of extras the console port will get since that's how Arcade -> Console ports tend to play out.

You actually got me thinking, is this the first handheld - arcade - console release? Wonder if the PSP game was actually a test bed for a larger scale project down the road or rather something they simply enjoyed making so it got the push to arcade/PS4.

Regardless of intentions and series history, this is one of the games I've had my eye on since the announcement. Really looking forward to any trickle drip of info.

It was weird how we haven't heard anything bout the game for like 5 months. Now we have a release date but we still haven't hear anything about other characters yet.

We already know a PS4 version is coming, but there's a wait to maximize arcade revenue. Actually, that's true of Tekken 7 as well.

Dissidia is basically running on a PS4 in the arcades, there's no way it would not come over anyway.

I put over 100 hours into Dissidia 012 on the PSP. I will be hyped for this as long as the stages aren't crap again.

As someone who had a LOT of fun with Dissidia and Dissidia 012 (although I don't see them as particularly competition-viable games so much as fanservice spectacle brawlers,) have they fixed the absolute clusterfuck that is the HUD yet?

It's like Arkham City: GOTY Edition: The HUD.

Well, it's not only to maximize arcade revenue: it's also serving effectively as a "multiplayer-only open beta". Japanese players get to test the in-game content, plus whatever materials are ready through time-unlocked content as months go on, so that the home version will be that much more an ideal product when it launches.

By the time the consumer version is ready, ideally, the only thing they'd have to worry about are adding a few more characters and whatever story/mission/etc. content they want to add to the home release.
