I think that's pretty cool: Looks solid from a distance, becomes semi-transparent the closer you get to it.

I don't get the sense of this thread.
Using a particular light condition it's possible to have a glimpse about what's inside PS3?OMG the end of the world is coming Moreover this is from ******,it's not like he deserves credit when he talks about PS3/Sony. |

I seriosly wonder if the opacity in the PS3 is there for a reason....just seems a little wierd that they would make it like that, unless stinkles is right and it is just a demo mockup. Could the type of plastic used help with heat dissipation possibly?

So it looks like just the top and the front panel/drive bay are actually "glossy". Everything else has this transparent look. Sort of looks like the same plastic used for the "smoke" colored PS2 controllers.
