Ok guys now it's all over, looks like PS3 is CLEAR (TRANSPARENT) BLACK, pic inside #1

This news is too big to the RSX thread. To quote my post:

it doesnt show in most pictures because most digital cameras lack the quality to show it of
I had to put the camera in manual mode and tinker with the settings to get it to show
what you see is a huge fan that circulates the air trough the unit so it blows out from the vents on the side
the unit also has liquid cooling pipes running trough it so it is assumed it will generate mucho heat

SONY ****ING BASTARDS STOP SABOTAGING MY PS3

Transparent has never been cool. 1997 is calling and wants its iMac fad back. Thx bye.

Being semi-transparent doesn't matter to me.

I thought only the tard pack had that. If they went through the trouble, a nice ambient LED would've been nice.

I think that's pretty cool: Looks solid from a distance, becomes semi-transparent the closer you get to it.

I believe the correct term is "translucent" from the pic provided.

maybe it was just for show to tell you that it was a final unit with real stuff inside not just a shell mock up?

but actual retail units will not be a clear black plastic

I don't even understand this pic, if it was the bottom of the PS3 wouldn't there be tons of holes for ventilation?

This reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Professor frink was demo'ing a PC that was transparent.

"The CPU is crashing at an alarming rate!"

"No more pictures!"

I don't get the sense of this thread.
Using a particular light condition it's possible to have a glimpse about what's inside PS3?OMG the end of the world is coming
Moreover this is from ******,it's not like he deserves credit when he talks about PS3/Sony.

In other news, the original Xbox is really really dark green.

Who cares, you probably aren't even gonna notice it unless you place it in direct sunlight.

Yes, the reduced opacity will lead to more damage due to cosmic radiation that is now able to penetrate the outer casing.

I will now have to wrap the PS3 in tin foil.

Actually, if you have access to the super hi-res press shots they sent out recently and take a close look...

it is indeed translucent.

I saw this last week, while looking for an IR port of all things... but I chalked it up to jpeg compression (it's clearly not) and forgot about it.

It's intresting... but immaterial to me; my PS3 won't be under bright bright lights.

Are you kidding me? I have my PS3 stand that doubles as a winecooler built outside right now. It's going to be sitting out in the sun getting some fresh rays with all my wires running inside.

in that ps3 retail walkthru GTTV thread, if you look at the video - when the german guy opens the ps3's memory card flap, you can clearly see that it's see thru.

Seriously, this news does not upset me at all. So let it be transparent. You can't open the PS3, right? Maybe they did this so people can still see what it looks like on the inside.

I seriosly wonder if the opacity in the PS3 is there for a reason....just seems a little wierd that they would make it like that, unless stinkles is right and it is just a demo mockup. Could the type of plastic used help with heat dissipation possibly?

Just to be safe and efficient, clump all your wires together, and plug them all into the same outlet.

So it looks like just the top and the front panel/drive bay are actually "glossy". Everything else has this transparent look. Sort of looks like the same plastic used for the "smoke" colored PS2 controllers.

Plastic itself is not a good conductor of heat.

I have a feeling it's just a demo. The promo shots taken from Sony don't show any translucency in their photos. Or none that I noticed.
