Yeah are we expecting a few maps/chars more? Do we even know?
I mean I play cs go and it's similar but larger maps and different objectives but only cost £5. I think I need to try the game to decide. Why can't we have demos

Yeah, I'm not too much into multiplayer shooters and I'm afraid to buy Overwatch cause I don't want to waste money. Everybody keeps praising it though and I wanna be in on the fun lol.
On the other hand, I do have nearly 470 hours in Team Fortress 2... but I feel like that game was probably a much better value than what Overwatch currently is.

Yes that is the gist of Overwatch... new skins, characters, maps everything these coming months. It's like F2P in that regard, but just with a entry price... for that you get everything from the begining not like League of Legends.

I was overcome by the Overwatch hype train but I dunno, doesn't seem like a big deal to me. Have less than half a dozen hours in it. Would rather play SMITE.
Maybe this is alot of people's first game with a selection of characters that have separate abilities I dunno.

YouTube doesn't do it justice. You will never get that adrenaline by watching videos sadly which makes the game so fucking good.
I stopped playing FPS 6 or 7 years ago (played Counterstrike and CoD back then), but this game got me back in to everything, because it is not only a normal FPS. I love the rolls and the teamfights.
I need more!!!
Didn't encounter that kind of people at all till now.

You're a lucky man. It's filled with these types of attitudes. People raging and insulting in the team chat is a common occurence as far as I've played.
I don't think I'd ever be able to play the game without all forms of chat muted.
Played over 80 matches now and only got one single guy that complained in team chat. Everyone else just gets muted like you are supposed to do in these typ of games.
Yeah that's totally it, people only enjoy his game because they're babies and they just encountered their first team shooter with characters. No other explanation makes sense, like the game being highly polished or fun. It can't be that playing it only for a few hours doesn't let one take in its intricacies or anything.

On another note though, when he's not overreacting he makes really great content. He has some of the best editing in the nintendo community no doubt.

I really like how he pointed out that he never had any interest in any other Blizzard game and never touched them, yet he got crack addicted to this game. Blizzard really did something great here, by pulling in an entirely new audience for themselves.

If you had played the game, you would understand no moneyhats are required here.
If it wasn't for the fact that you can sell duplicates for currency to spend on the specific items that you do want, I would say that a gambling mechanic shouldn't be praised as the best monetization system created so far...

It's setting a dangerous precedent, regardless if they soften the blow a bit or not.
I guess the tradeoff though is all characters and maps are free to everyone for the life of the game? Or will they have expansions too.

It's true. All of it. I only played the beta for an hour and thought "eh, this will be a nice pick up and play game for a match or two sometimes". I bought it Thursday and have spent at least 4 hours a day playing it, including on a day where I MOVED. (Actually I think I spent half the day playing it that day, and the other half moving.) This is bad. I gotta get on with my day but just reading this topic has made me want to go and play it some more. Damn you, GAF!
From what I know all gameplay content (characters, maps and modes) are free and that the micro-transactions are to help maintain servers and fund the gameplay stuff.

I can't see what they could offer as a traditional "Expansion" if they are going to give Heroes and maps for free... it would be silly to then ask people to pay for more heroes and maps and then give more again later for free. So since they are doing down this path, I don't see the game ever having a traditional expansion or traditional DLC.
