Just played the first couple hours of Resistence, and I'm pretty damn impressed. The mechanics are down pat, and this is easily the best controlling FPS I've played on a PlayStation (and it's up there on consoles in general too). I haven't gotten far enough to really dig into the meaty, unique weapons, but the Bullseye is already a nice dose of fun time awesome.
Special praise for great AI (enemies noticing my flashlight, proper flanking and/or fake out flanking, proper recognition of whether to attack or fall back, etc.) and brilliant atmosphere that has somehow managed to freshen up 1950's era Europe without compromising the integrity of what they were going for. I can't wait to play more, and to try out multi (though I don't have a BT headset yet). |

I'm downloading the MotorStorm demo and it's been an hour and just 85% complete! Wtf? i
It's only 435 MB and my 360 gets download rates triple that with GB files... Anyways, can anyone help? Or may it just be my wifi(but it is 60% signal strength)?(I use wired 360 btw) |

SHIT!!!
Someone just drove past me in motorstorm ON FIRE and then kaput'd off to the side of the track. ![]() I LOVE THIS GAME edit: I LOVE FLYING OFF THE CLIFFS. There is some sweet comedy in diving fullspeed off cliffs right past "SLOW" signs. Last edited by Y2Kev : 11-18-2006 at 03:52 AM. |

My solution? I kid you not, I wrapped my damn system selector almost entirely in aluminum foil, even going so far as to lift it and place the foil underneath. I haven't had a band since. Selectors are usually really cheaply made and do that shit to you :( |

Oh and I've got to agree on the Resistance AI (where's Chespace when you need him?). It's really really good. It's not the Halo kind of smart where enemies work together as teams and flank you (no game have matched up to Halo 1/2 in AI), but it's one of the best non-Halo AIs because the enemies are BRUTAL and HARD. They hide behind stuff, they pop out quickly and take pot shots, when you hide they take the side and try to sneak up on you, etc...battles are REALLY TOUGH but intense. Very good AI job by Insomniac.

Bebpo, I forgot all about those costumes! Where are they, in the Genji section?

Motorstorm has me feeling way less buyer's remorse. The car wreck chaos reminded me of the kind of fun and unpredictability that a super-powered game consoles (or PC) pumping fun physics can deliver.
I watched Silent Hill on Blueray. Can't say it was all that much better than DVD. Less artifacting than my cheapo all region DVD player, but that's about it. One scene looked hyper-real, when Rose was in the hospital room with the bloody nurse ghost and the burnt up witch girl But man, they really need to get next gen with the DVD menus. They're shit on Taladega Nights and Silent Hill. Super cheesy looking. Not the kind of thing I want from hi-def. I noticed some banding during movie playback too. And I'm not using any switching. Just straight HDMI. I'm gonna need to clean up the soup of wires behind my set up and isolate my video cabling. |
