Official Marvel Ultimate Alliance Thread
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Publisher: Activision Developer: Ravensoft (X-Men Legends series) Release Date: 24th October 2006 Official Site ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Story Dr. Doom has formed a new Masters of Evil in order to steal Odin's power. They then launch an attack on a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier. Nick Fury sends out a distress call to all available meta-humans. Captain America, Thor, Spider-Man and Wolverine respond and proceed to eliminate Doom's forces. The heroes then travel to various locations in order to stop Doom's plan and, of course, save the world. (Source: Wikipedia) Gameplay An action-RPG much like the X-Men Legends series where you control a team of four superheroes from the Marvel universe to battle through hordes of bad guys and supervillains. The skill tree/list is remarkably shorter this time. I would say that every hero in MUA has about half or two-thirds the number of skills a hero in XML2 had. The difference this time is that every hero has three alternate costumes with three unique skills each. These skills are not upgraded by leveling up. Instead, these skills are upgraded by spending the money you collect on them. Alternate costumes for a hero appear to be unlocked as a player spends more time personally controlling that specific hero. You no longer have to manually assign body, focus and strike points when you level. You get three points every level and these are automatically assigned to the body, strike and focus attributes according to the hero. Potions are gone from the game which makes boss fights a bit more frustrating since you have to constantly kill the minions to obtain life and mana orbs since that is the only way to refill your life and mana. Co-op through the main story mode supports up to four players at any time with all four players viewing the same screen (ie. no split screen). You can start the single-player story mode alone and have a buddy jump in any time to control one of your four heroes and once your buddy leaves, you can continue the game by yourself with no disruption. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- List of Playable Characters (Alternate Costumes) Blade Captain America (U.S. Agent) Deadpool Dr. Strange Elektra Ghost Rider (Phantom Rider, Vengeance) Human Torch Iceman Invisible Woman Iron Man (Classic, War Machine) Luke Cage Mr. Fantastic Ms. Marvel (Sharon Ventura) Spiderman (Symbiote, Scarlet Spider) Spiderwoman Storm The Thing Thor (Beta Ray Bill) Wolverine Unlockable Characters Black Panther Daredevil Silver Surfer Nick Fury PSP Exclusive Characters Captain Marvel Hawkeye Nova Ronin Next-Gen (Xbox 360, Wii, PS3) Exclusive Characters Colossus Moon Knight (Khonshu) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Previews IGN's Xbox 360 Hands-On Impressions Gamespot's Xbox 360 Hands-On Impressions 1up Comparison Between Wii, PS3, Xbox 360 versions Reviews Gamrankings' Xbox 360 Page Games Radar - 8 Team Xbox - 8.8 IGN Xbox 360 - 8.2 Game Informer - 9.25 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Last edited by ElyrionX : 10-26-2006 at 01:47 PM. |

There are Wii exclusive characters too. I saw them at Activision briefly but we weren't told who they were.

The 360 characters are ace.
The PSP characters aren't bad either. I'm a big hawkeye fan. Hopefully you can download some new ones later........ Persoanlly i wouldnt have added MS. Marvel, Cage, Elektra or Spiderwoman. I could think of much better characters. |

I very much liked the X-men legends games. I'm not particularly fond of the roster this time but, it is diverse enough. However, do we really need spiderman and spiderwoman in the same game? I definitely will grab this one asap, TRU b2g1 ftw!

Some of those characters really suck.
How in the heck do you include Spiderwoman, Elektra and Deadpool... but leave out HULK Heck, if you're trying to balance out the male/female ratio then at least use some chicks who are familiar. Rogue, Black Cat, Psylocke, Firestar and Jean Gray would have all been better choices |
