EA charges FIFTY DOLLARS for locked NFS: Carbon content. THE AGE OF BOHICA IS UPON US #1

Guess what: if you bought Need for Speed: Carbon today, you already have premium content waiting for you on Xbox Live Marketplace! Not only is there day one content available, but it's still on the disc waiting to be unlocked. But that's not all. You want to own all of this wonderful content that's already sitting on the very game disc you purchased? It's going to cost you an additional $50 in microtransactions. That's right, fifty ****ing dollars to UNLOCK game data.

Heres a list of the parts and items you can 'download' on Marketplace:

The Collectors Edition Upgrade - 800 Points
Performance Drivetrain Bundle - 400 Points
Performance Engine Boost Bundle - 400 Points
Performance Handling Bundle - 400 Points
Ultimate Performance Bundle - 800 Points
Muscle Car Autosculpt Body Kit - 300 Points
Autosculpt Tuner Body Kit - 300 Points
Autosculpt Exotic Body Kit - 300 Points
1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 - 80 Points
2004 Lamborghini Murcielago - 80 Points
2006 Dodge Viper SRT-10 - 80 Points

If you even THINK of buying this shit, I will bitch slap you.

That is the single worst thing I've heard related to gaming, without hyperbole, since the day Animal Crossing became a smashing success.

**** you, EA.

Oh it can get worse. Imagine if Animal Crossing was released on the Xbox 360. It would take you $500 to buy all the furniture, flowers, inserts, fishes, fruits, clothes, whatever.

I would like to welcome the acronym FUBAR back into my internet lingo! If this marketplace bullshit continues I am going to have many opportunities to use it.

Christ, I don't even own a 360 and I'm pissed off. These are the new dark days of gaming.

so retarded. I bet those upgrades help a lot in online racing too. gg EA. You took the hobby where having more money didn't make you win and turned that around.

We'll know when EA flaunts the numbers in their sales reports.

This really is - also without hyperbole - the most disgusting thing I've seen in years and years of gaming. Worse things have probably happened, mind you, but this sickens me more than anything else I can think of. Just terrible. Makes the Oblivion horse armor fiasco sound like a cool little extra I might actually think about getting in comparison. Holy shit.

Edit - animal crossing is a great game wtf

I think these are all included in the premium version of the game. And the other versions of the game on other platforms include them also in the premium version.

So you can buy the Limited Edition for $10 more I believe or get the basic one and buy these later.

EA ain't using any lube on 360 owners. It's straight up the ass.

Downgrade megaton diminishing returns am cry.

But seriously, EA sucks. And quite frankly, I don't think they should allow game content to be sold on the marketplace that was finished at the same time the game was. Or rather I think people should be less retarded and stop buying it, but that may be asking too much.

This is pretty disgusting. Extracting content that should be in the regular game and selling it for the price of a WHOLE OTHER game is insane.

I can't wait to see what they do when "The Sims" franchise comes to the 360. They'll probably incorporate a system where game money=real money. So that designer lamp for my Sim-room will REALLY cost $35!!

This is insane. EA FTL!

I hope people don't start to compare this to other outrageous stuff of XBLM, 'cause then we're in their control. As someone mentioned

Quote:
Makes the Oblivion horse armor fiasco sound like a cool little extra I might actually think about getting in comparison

**** NO!
XBLM is just ripping us new holes. MS should regulate this more, and set a standard for pricing.
If they do, the pricey stuff will go down (Unless we, the users, already buy everything)

Personally I haven't bought anything except XBLA-games.
