Since I know quite a few people don't have pre-orders, here is a thread for posting line info. I know we have the other thread talking about the lines - but this thread is for information/line updates only so JGaffers know where to head after work.

Yodobashi Umeda Update - As of 4:30 pm the line has exploded with Chinese/Homeless/Whining 2ch posters. Appox 400 systems on hand. Open price is 62000yen/10% points.

Yeah, but it's crippled by that chrome bar. That's why I went for the cheapo version. Besides I'm sure 60GB will be full in a year or so anyway. I think a lot of us gaffers are gonna upgrade to 200GB+ pretty quickly, esp. with the installations. Wi-fi is the only thing I'm sad about, now that it's clear you need it for some of the PSP connectivity :(

I'm pretty sure you can use the USB cable.

No wireless on the 20GB is kinda bummer, but how often do I play games on a PSP? (And I'm not trolling, seriously.)

I don't think I'll be in the lines tonight, I'm counting on my local shop for the 20GB units. Hopefully it will be all good tomorrow.

Not for the Remote Play functionality, apparently. That's what I understood from the update site anyway.

If only a 200GB 2.5" SATA drive didn't cost more then a TARD PS3 and even then it would only be 4200RPM which is SLOW data access.

Aah, that one is obvious. I thought you were thinking about PlayStation Store material transfer..etc. (Not that you need a PS3 for that come firmware 3.00)

Some guy on the Tokyo 2ch thread said Yodo Akiba got 1000+ units. It sounds insane, but strangely plausible considering the size of that store/chain.

Not having to take the day off work to get a PS3 is invaluable to me. I may be paying a premium on the system I`m getting, but I`m glad I won`t have to stand in line for one.

There are 10+ people in line (or more like hang-out) in front of Akiba Asobit City right now. I I found it's funny that half of them are non-Japanese.

Sadly, NA works a little differently from Japan. I kind of miss the clear cut preorder system of NA. You know which stores do preorders, and they know they`re doing preorders well in advance.

Most stores in my area didn`t even know how they were going to sell PS3s.

UPDATE: Doesn`t seem to be anyone in front of any small stores in my area yet. Unit allocation is probably so low, there`s little to no point.

This is why I love Japan. You don't have to line up THREE DAYS before a console release no matter how limited because some jackass decided to get in line early and everyone got scared and followed the lead.

Yeah that does sound rough, and I thought a day before warning for our preorders was bad. Glad you got your preorder though, thats definately a plus on the situation.

If you can, you should take some pictures when the official release time (I'm assuming midnight) comes closer.

Because of the nature of the last train out of Osaka (around 11:40pm), and the fact that I work on saturdays, I won`t be able to get pictures of the lineup at Yodobashi Umeda. I`ll try to get pictures of my local stores, but I think things will be fairly quiet around me.

tetsuo`s your man for photos, most probably. He doesn`t have to worry about trains out of osaka.
