First, it’s now officially confirmed that Ultra Street Fighter II will have a new first-person mode. This was originally teased in the game’s debut trailer last month. It’s a unique game mode called “Unleash! Ha”DO”ken”, and is specialized for use with the Joy-Con controllers in a first-person view.

The box also shows that Ultra Street Fighter II will have some sort of art gallery. Players can view over 250 pages of artwork.

As one final note, the box contains a logo for the MT Framework engine. It does appear that Capcom’s mainstream engine is capable of producing Switch software.

So the first person mode runs on MT Framework? That potentially bodes well for any of the recent remasters as possible candidates for the Switch, but perhaps most importantly, it might point to Monster Hunter staying on the engine, albeit with some expected improvements now that it's not limited by the 3DS hardware.

I really don't get why they decided to kill MT Framework for new HD projects going forward and instead opted to reinvent the wheel during a time when their finances were fucked.

I don't think it's dead. The engine can scale to 3DS, Vita and phones. Capcom are probably still going to use it for mobile, Monster Hunter and maybe some Switch exclusive games that won't use UE4.

RE Engine and UE4 are probably easier to work on for PS4/XB1/PC games, though.

RE Engine is good stuff (though the name leads me to believe it's only for RE) but yeah. Honestly if they just kept using MT Framework but just maxed out everything and made it as smooth as possible they'd be in good shape. DMC4SE looks pretty nice, besides character models looking a little dated

They call it Hadoken mode. I guess it's some kind of Hadoken shooting gallery and not actually 1st person Street Fighter.

I wonder what else is included in this. They showed that one mode where it was 2 characters at the same time vs 1. That gave me the idea that they should totally go balls out crazy with this game and make the Street Fighter II equivalent of Super Mario Maker/NES Remix.

lol what mainstream engine?

Not like they were gonna use HD Remix assets for RE7's moon molesting engine.

The 2-on-1 concept was their own idea from the original Street Fighter Zero.

In most ports there was a mode where you used two characters to fight against Dictator.

The Street Fighter Zero collection on PS2 also had a Hyper Street Fighter Zero mode which did go "balls out crazy." They had Street Fighter III (parrying) isms, Marvel vs. games isms, all sorts of crazy things. And it was awesome.

EDIT:

Evil Ryu and Violent Ken
Rebalanced gameplay closer to Super Turbo with tech throws
1st Person Mode (purpose of thread, we still don't know what it is)

Quite a few balance tweaks have been made. Justin Wong notes that you are now able to tech throws which changes the meta dramatically.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/01/...intendo-switch

On Rebalancing a Classic Street Fighter Game

“The balance for the original Street Fighter II Turbo in the '90s was OK for that time, but whether it matches the times now is a bit questionable,” Ono explained. “We didn’t want to do a complete overhaul, because then the situation would be, ‘Well, why don’t you just play Street Fighter 5?’ We wanted to keep some sense of what it was like playing in the 90s, but also retune it to match the era now.”

“We’re still in the middle of making the final touches, in terms of the tuning, but we hope we can find something that lands in between. Something that’s nostalgic, but also new at the same time. There are hands-on events here and also in Tokyo, and we see a lot of parents and children coming to play together. We observe and see how they’re actually reacting to it.”

They don't. Capcom mainly relies on Unreal Engine 4 & now the RE Engine for their big console games these days.

Either way, the first person mode sounds neat. Though the use of SFIV assets is interesting. Is it because of Sony paying for the creation of the SFV assets or can't the Switch not handle the SFV assets?

I can dream, but...

If this had a "Super Turbo" mode, where it was an arcade perfect (or close to it) conversion of the original 1994 Super Turbo, I would actually go to great lengths to get a Switch as early as possible.
