From an interview with GamesIndustry.biz and Square Enix's Phil Elliot (Director of community & indie development at Square Enix): http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articl...l-about-our-intentions-square-enix-collective
Edit:
For the games they're releasing in 2017:
- Square Enix Collective has transformed from a Kickstarter marketing firm to a straight up game publisher.
- For now, they're halting support for future Kickstarters in favor of publishing, but want to also support Kickstarters again in the future.
- So far, the games they've published directly are Goetia and The Turing Test, but they're now ramping up dramatically, which is presumably why they're making it much more public/obvious that they're an indie publisher now.
- In 2017, they will publish 7 indie games. This will ramp up to 10 games a year as soon as possible.
- The budget range they're currently supporting is around ~$1 million, but they're going to ramp up to $3-$5 million budgets by 2020.
- They advise indie developers to get quotes from at least two other publishers before choosing Square Enix so that they can help Square make sure they're offering the best publishing deals for indies.
- Their first new game announcement of 2017 is Battalion 1944 from the developers of The Turing Test, which will have a separate thread momentarily.
Edit:
