Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops arrives to Europe in April with some extras #1

Konami announces that Metal gear solid p.o. will arrive to Europe next April. As expected, the PAL game will contain some extras:

- New mode: The "Boss Battle" mode allows players to unlock additional characters for recruitment.
- New characters, maps and mission: At least 12 new characters are reported to be coming out. Wait for further details.
- Updated careers: Existing characters will get expanded careers, which will now focus on their key attributes.
- Updated Multiplayer: The game's multiplayer mode will receive two extra maps, bringing total map count to 10.

yeah but the server lobbies would be europe based!

The bonuses aren't worth a full game purchase. Do you want me to pay prime+1% on my game purchase for six months for the content?

We do pay more for our games too... its good that we get a *little* more stuff...now im going to wait for it, instead of impulse-importing the US version.
MG:PO is bound to be a £34.99 release...thats nearly $70usd..would you be happy to pay that for a handheld game?

I couldn't wait so I imported the US version but I will definitely get the European one when it comes out here. Those extras sound awesome but April!? That's a long wait. :(

How unexpected. Konami have always been so quick with the PAL versions of Metal Gears in the past.

And it's not a PAL version, it's a European version.

Sounds meaty.

Surely for online compatibility at least the US (if not JP too) version would be patched up accordingly? Or are we not gonna get to play alongside our wait/pay/get less gaming brethren...

People can only play online with people using copies of the game from the same region.

They should just make these extras downloadable from the MPO site for U.S. players. I mean if Wipeout could deliver free quality downloable content, then I'm pretty sure the cats at Konami can hook us up. The only thing I really care about are the extra characters because you know that one of those additional 12 is going to be The Boss.

it took them this long to add a boss mode? I'd rather skip the extras and get it straight away.

Extras are the effect of delays, not the cause.
They are the chocolate used to hide the bad taste of the medicine we're forced to swallow.

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops will not be hitting UK shelves tomorrow :(

http://www.gamesradar.com/gb/psp/gam... ectionId=1006

Quote:
Someone forgot to put on the BBFC rating

Thursday 3 May 2007
The accidental omission of the BBFC stamp from the Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops UMD has meant that the PSP exclusive game won't be going on sale tomorrow as originally planned and that retailers have had to return all their copies of the game.

We spoke to a representative from high street retailer Game to find out when Portable Ops will be available, but we were told that no new release date has been set. At the time of writing we had been unable to contact Konami for a comment.

As one of the few must-have titles for Sony's handheld this almighty cock up will come as a blow for PSP owners eager to get their hands on Solid Snake's first true portable outing (forget the card-based strategy shenanigans of Metal Gear Acid, Portable Ops is proper Metal Gear).

In the meantime, you might as well check out our review of the game to get an idea of what you won't be able to buy tomorrow. Bummer.

Delays because of what? Zone of the Enders 2 took them more than half a year to get it to Europe. Because of the localisation process? I doubt it.

The same thing had happened with gameplay. They removed the game from their site, even if you make a search it doesn't appear.
