Heh, neat.

I guess modding a real one is useless unless it's a small racing wheel, because with the normal sized one's you can't reach the buttons. With those made of cardboard - and, uh, is that duct tape? - you can, just reach with your thumbs inside the thing.

Those are pretty hideous, but somehow the fact that the blue one is specifically made for the wrist strap to go through it is... cute. It's like it's got a tail.

Due to wacky brightness I appear to be on Mercury and you can't see the actual game, but hey. If only I had Excite Thumbs maybe I could actually hold the rim and still accelerate.
