Golf on flog has been launched! Only seems to work on 1.0.0 systems that have never been connected to the Internet.
The system date must be set to July 11 (Iwata's death). Then, mimic the "Directly" gesture with both Joy-Con in Home Menu.

Absolutely amazing Easter Egg though.

Really incredible.

Glad to see Iwata remembered in such a neat way. The NX/Switch was a journey he started with but was unfortunately not there at the destination.

Almost certainly the work of a rogue programmer meant as a tribute. The day of his death is a bit of a downer... His birthday makes more sense if it was an intentional thing.

Wonder if Iwata was working on this personally?

As yellows8 writes: "The loaded date originates from network-time-sync'd time, regardless of whether the user has it enabled or not. When the system was never connected to the Internet, it comes from the user-specified date instead. This is loaded from the time service-cmds, with the actual time-sync being handled by NIM."

In other words, if your system has ever been connected to the Internet, the "flog" emulator will know the real date and ignore any manual clock change to July 11. You can only cheat and reset the system date manually if you have a fresh system that has never done an Internet time check (or, possibly, if the Switch's internal clock battery is disabled or dies). For those with a clean, never-Internet-connected system, though, some fresh video evidence has emerged.

The checks for this only run while Home Menu is active, aka main-menu.

It checks exactly the following:

- Both Joy-Cons must be detached from the system.
- The same motion checks for both Joy-Cons must pass, at the same time. The motion seems to be a reference to this. Hold the Joy-Cons pointing forwards/downwards, then move Joy-Cons to a vertical position, and hold it there for a bit. The Joy-Con grip can be used for this.
- The month+day must match the date of Iwata's death: July 11. The loaded date originates from network-time-sync'd time, regardless of whether the user has it enabled or not. When the system was never connected to the Internet, it comes from the user-specified date instead. This is loaded from the time service-cmds, with the actual time-sync being handled by NIM.
- The output from a certain function must return 0, 1, or 2. On one system this was tested with, this check would pass.
- Lastly a nsam cmd is used. Probably to verify that the title is installed?

He deserved to see the Switch become as successful as it is becoming now.

Edit: I won't do this until the actual date.

To be clear, this is probably *not* strictly limited to 1.0.0. It just has to have never seen internet time and for most systems this is impossible and the only systems out there that likely have never seen internet time (or Nintendo's Update Servers/Services) are 1.0.0 and anything after that may have seen it in various stages.

The only way to know for sure won't be until July 11th, 2018.

What a tribute... Iwata is truly missed.

I wonder, can it only be played by doing this gesture on the 11th? Or does doing this unlock a shortcut on the home menu?
