The New World is an isometric, party-based RPG inspired by Heinlein’s Orphans of the Sky. Your character's world is a “generation ship,” a massive spacecraft on a centuries long voyage to colonize a distant planet. The Ship's original government has been disbanded following a violent mutiny and you must negotiate a treacherous path among your fellow passengers and the contentious factions striving to dominate the Ship. Your choices alone will determine who your friends and enemies are.

- Skill-based character system, with feats and biological implants.
- Tactical turn-based combat, featuring standard as well as targeted attacks and weapon-specific special attacks such as Fanning and Long Burst.
- Multiple quest solutions, mutually exclusive questlines, and a branching main storyline.
- 12 recruitable party members with different personalities, agendas, and beliefs.
- 3 main factions and a score of lesser factions and groups.
- A large arsenal including melee weapons, firearms, energy pistols, grenades, and fancy electronic gadgets like the Reality Distortion Field.
- 16 environments to explore, from the Engine Room and Hydroponics Lab to the dystopian cities of the Habitat and the Wasteland, the now uncharted corridors and decks that bore the brunt of the fighting during the Mutiny.

Age of Decadence was outstanding, so this is great news.

Looking forward to playing it 13 years from now.

Sounded super cool, but is a lot darker than I thought it'd look. Still interested. Synopsis reminds me of Analogue: A Hate Story.

Very cool idea. Plus, I live the much more rarely explored science fiction angle for RPGs.
Yup, sci-fi is ripe with all kinds of crazy concepts and ideas you can only do in literature, comics, or games, but most sci-fi games just use science fiction for cool enemies, weapons, and locations rather than delving deep. Using the generation ship concept for a CRPG is pretty brilliant

Sounds awesome. Haven't checked out Age of Decadence yet, but I've heard nothing but great things about it, and the premise sounds incredible.

Was there any combat in AoD? I would skip around LPs if it and it was always just dialogue trees
It has a surprisingly deep and nuanced combat system. Dungeon Rats is focused on the combat if you liked it in AoD

One example
AoD actually has pretty cool combat underneath that awkward-ass UI, so I'm excited for this, too.

It was amazing the moment I realized I could hack my way through much tougher battles than I thought with my squishy assassin by lacerating people's hands to lower their to-hit chance. Doing that, crowd controlling with nets, and falling back to choke points was a pretty good time for a game with a reputation for everything but the fighting parts.

This is the type of game I think I'd love.

Especially using a more grounded sci-fi concept like a generation ship. Might fill quite a good niche, as RPGs tend to be more fantasy as of late. Especially when you have all these CRPGs like Divinity, Pillars of Eternity, etc.

Man, I actually read that novel so now I am curious about the game just for the sake of comparison. I have not played Age of Decadence, the game's visuals are not appealing to me in the slightest even though I only hear wonders about everything else.

I tried AOD twice and couldn't get into it, although it should be exactly what I love.
But I am not one to learn from my mistakes so I will buy this as well, because it sounds amazing.

I think Age of Decadence has the best "role-paying" that's ever been in a videogame, highly recommended. Hope for this project they can capture the look of the concept art, because AoD looked like complete shit.

I've been following the game for some time now through Vault Dweller's posts on the Codex. The Age of Decadence was brilliant, and I'm glad to see a developer continue Fallout's design legacy so well.

Looking forward to playing it 13 years from now.

I expect this game to be released much faster.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
Looks really cool, actually -- I'm really digging the aesthetic. Didn't play Age of Decadence, though... looked super generic. Was this a mistake?

We're using Unreal 4 so you can expect better visuals. Not AAA quality, of course, but way better than AoD.

If you're curious, try the demo on Steam. It gives you access to the first chapter, so you can see for yourself.

Trick with AoD is to pick a class and stick to it. You can't afford to deviate but it does give you a real RPG feel.

Great news on the new title, will keep my radar on.

Age of Decadence was awesome. My personal game of the year and in my top 5 RPGs ever played. Also really appreciate how Iron Tower works as a company not afraid of letting you look in and see how the sausage is made.

Vince, I'm curious, are y'all familiar with Analogue: A Hate Story and Hate Plus? It has a kind of similar concept to TNW, although its vibe is much, much different and it also approaches the concept from a somewhat different angle (i.e., stumbling on the ship from the outside after certain things have happened).

This still looks really neat and I'm looking forward to it!

The concept of generation ships has been around way longer than those games. The story that inspired the game was first published in the 40s, and concept had appeared in other works in the 20s

Haven't heard about it until it was mentioned in this thread but I will definitely take a look.
