Sony has shipped over 4 million PS3 consoles
#1
Thanks to Telekill at the Gamespot forums.
http://www.kabutocho.net/news/livenews/dl_79854.html (It's in Japanese and apparantly it sais that Sony has sent out over 4 million consoles from their factory. This story was from last week.) I guess that includes those European consoles traveling on that boat as well. |

Or maybe it's that retailers have made these enormous orders and don't want to have them filled until they can clear their own current stock (not everyone has the distribution muscle of Best Buy). I imagine that when Circuit City tells Sony to hold onto its next 50,000 PS3s it's had promised to them, Sony still counts them as shipped even though they're surely accounted for in some Sony warehouse. |

Isn't the deal with Sony's definition of shipped that they literally mean shipped from the factory? As opposed to having sold & shipped them to retailers?
It's quite possible 1.8 mil are sold, 1 mil headed for Europe, and another 300k for each of the 3 major territories are in the pipes rather than actually with retailers. |

Roughly
1 million Japan 2 million US 1 million PAL Makes sense right? US LTD crept past 1 million sometime in February, Japanese is still well under 1 million, PAL is, as we know, 1 million for launch. The sell-through optimistically for all 4 million will be mid April I'm guessing. |
