Oh, so hey, I got this the other day. It's pretty good! The levels are classic Bubble Bobble in that most of them are in the shape of something or other, there's one level there based on Taito's Exit game. Jumping between the two screens is still a bit odd though, not as bad as Revolution, but still. Some enemies are now colour coded, they'll have either a green, blue or red star floating around them, which means you have to switch to the right bubble blowing freak to capture them. Surprisingly it's not retarded, it works pretty well, you switch with the L and R buttons.
The bosses actually require you to be awake unlike Revolution. One of them makes you blow into the mic NON-STOP while trying to mash buttons and shit, I could hear the developers laughing at me while crumbs spewed out of their mouths. Graphics are nothing special, because it's Bubble Bobble. The backgrounds are quite nice, I guess. Music's okay, some of it's catchy. Only the first world has the classic theme, so there's no fear of hours and hours of DO DOO DO DA DOO DO DOO DO DOO DO DO (YEAH typin' music, good stuff). And it's not all Road Runner-ish like the trailer.
There's unlimited continues providing you can be arsed about doing the mini games at the Continue screen. Stuff like 'run as fast as you can!' (quickly hit two spots on the touch screen over and over to run away from a ghost.. or a toilet.. one of those) and 'find the right bubble before time runs out!' But BUT, the game DOESN'T SAVE YOUR PROGRESS. I suppose it helps with the whole old school feeling, but shit. There's 100 levels. Not something I can do in one sitting anymore, unless I leave the DS in sleep mode for ten thousand years.
Would have been nice if they'd included the NES Bubble Bobble 2 or something too, oh well. Probably recommended if you commited suicide over Revolution and Evolution!
