Ferrari Challenge is back - PS3, PSP, Wii, DS #1

Quote:
System 3 has announced today that Ferrari Challenge is on its way to the PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS and the PlayStation Portable.

The game will be based on the Ferrari Challenge series and will feature real cars, real tracks and true Ferrari racing dyanmics. The PlayStation 3 version will include support for up to 16 players online. The PSP and DS versions will feature 4-player wireless play including adhoc play and game share and the Wii version will include control with a Wii steeing wheel.

System 3, CEO, Mark Cale added, “Video games and racing have been my two passions during the twenty-five years that I’ve been in the business. Finally the two have collided and I’m immensely proud to be bringing the Ferrari Challenge to market this year. We have invested in the best development talent in the industry and I’m confident that the game will be even more impressive than the license.”

Ferrari’s Katia Bassi, Head of Licensing said, “Mark has been a highly valued customer of Ferrari for over twenty years during which time we have developed a special relationship including System 3 becoming a sponsor of our 60th birthday anniversary road tour and celebrations. We know that the Ferrari Challenge is in good hands as Mark himself is an experienced Challenge series driver, giving him a unique insight into translating the technical aspects of our engineering to the medium of video games”.

I enjoyed the Ferarri game on the Dreamcast, but was'nt that made by Sega?

Awesome PS3 not PS2! This means we can all hope for a downgraded port of the PS3 version for Wii instead of hopelessly waiting for an upgraded PS2 port :(

I welcome the change :)

Or they can do the current trend and make a slight upgrade to the PSP version :P

Geez, if they made Super Fruit Fall, they can get bent. Believe me, I am first in line for quirky, interesting games but a game that works best with just a d-pad AND makes no decent use of the Wiimote AND is only worthy of a XBLA release at best is crap IMO.

OK, I'm done.

Maybe the PS2 version is missing because the original game came out for it years ago?

Though I thought I remember it being one of the SEGA games Acclaim pushed over, but their logo isn't on it. I'm sure they did 355 and Crazy Taxi?

System 3 tends to do budget titles like the Gottlieb Pinball games [which were also on PS2 beforehand]. As a budget title, I'd imagine this could be miles better than, say, "Ford Racing 3" or "White Van Racing"

Oh wait, so this isn't from the guys that made Ferrari F355 Challenge for the Dreamcast? Then it's no biggie that it isn't on the 360 then...

I do not see "Sega", "AM2", or "Yu Suzuki" anywhere in that press release. Therefore Ferrari Challenge is not "back."

Well, obviously. But what I am implying is that, as anyone who has played it knows, Sega's F355 Challenge is a truly great racing game and I really don't think that a developer like System 3 will produce something even half as good.

F355 > Scud Race

F355 > Scud Race

yep, i agree with you - it's my favourite racer of all time. but let's wait 'til we get to see at least some sceens/videos and we can get our hands on it. my expectations on this are not very high to be honest but i'd like to be surprised when it comes out.

What happened to the Ferrari game that the GTR/GP Legend guys were developing?

http://www.blimeygames.com/site/news.php

Maybe PC and/or 360 owners will be getting that one instead? if it's still coming out that is.

You're confused. Acclaim didn't publish F355 for the PS2. Sega did that one on their own - I have the US game right in front of me. What Acclaim did have is a Ferrari PS2 game that got cancelled.

One of the first announced PS2 games too. Practically done before it got axed.
