The maps are £2 when I was expecting £3.50 (was it £2.85 now I hink about it?) since I think that was how much the old packs cost. Sadly I can't get the download started on my 360, get some error message about not being able to download premium content and I have to enable it in the dashboard.

Read the above comments and reflect on how foolish you've been. You get these from the Halo 2 content downloader, you need a credit card, and if you're on VGA and running 60Hz you need to use composite to get into the content downloader.

Yeah we all know, there was massive convulsion in the prior threads. However, the Halo 2 content downloader has no concept of points, and it's too late for them to make a system just for one game.

Nope, you have to rebuy the maps for every Xbox you want to download the maps to.

I daresay most people didn't, I had it set to off just incase my younger brother tried to download something to my card Either way, this issue wouldn't effect you since you just need to renew your credit card.

Probably, shows up fine on my 360 but I haven't checked on my Xbox but since I can't download from either box the point is moot. :( I read on the Bungie forums that changing you timezone forward might help, but it might just be that the servers limit how many can go download the maps at a specific time.

Edit: Thanks to a post on the Bungie forums I was able to get around the Premium Content issue and download the maps to my 360. You will need a spare Silver account with no credit card attached to it.

Go to the download area within Halo 2 and log in to your Gold account and attempt to download the maps. You will get the Premium Content error, press the A button and then the B button to get the Gamertag list back up and proceed to log in with your spare Silver account. Attempt to download the maps where it should start and then stop with a message saying you will not be charged, then log back into your Gold account and try once again to download the maps and it should work.

Desolation is Warlock 2.0, but a bit bigger. I don't really like it, but that's because I play more team-based games. For slayer, it should be pretty fun, as you have the grav lifts to get to the 2nd floor, with rockets on the bottom floor center, and the sword second floor center, so you won't get people having both unless they found a new sprint button.

Tombstone is very cool, it has lots of passageways, exposed vantage points, some cool water effects, and is genuinely fun to play. It's very brown in places, and the sound is very cool, as you can hear the distant whirr of machinery or something you can't quite put your finger on. This is a much more team-based map, perfect for the 4 v 4 Team Skirmish in terms of size, but the new rejigging of BTB for 5 v 5 should be perfect.

Tinkered around with them this morning, as obviously tonight will be the night we really dig in deep. Desolation can actually pack four LRVs (tightly, sort of like Foundation did), but it looks like a pretty cool map. It felt quite a bit larger than the original. Tombstone felt slightly smaller and more confined than previously.

Both of these maps have really good vibes on them, probably better than any other maps. The mood on Tombstone is really eerie; there are lights flickering off and on inside dark corridors, everything feels dead and empty. Desolation feels more typical, like the feeling you get from a normal map, but the jungle sounds are very realistic and interesting.

I can't give you an opinion on design, because I have to play a good number of matches before that is made apparent, but the scaling, feeling and general layout of the maps is very much in tune with the Halo 1 variations. The most accurate description I can give is that they feel more realistic (look, mood, sound) than anything Halo 2 has offered before.

had a great session on this today, £2 is perfect!

Started and posted on Bungie forums to get some full team games going, after 5 mins we were packed.

Desolation is great of full on battles, slayer and king of the hill.
Tombstone is awesome for CTF and team snipers or just bigger battles.

Looks like everyone can download now but there is the same issue cropping up that makes everyone in teh party go URG!!!!!! and slap there heads, some people have problems loading teh map so you cant start again, the solution is for that person to start there own game in that map then quit and rejoin, such a pain tho.

Man its been some fun, dunno if its been the new maps or just coz its Halo but

I'm getting the same thing. Apparently you can get around it by either logging in with your original Xbox and enabling premium purchases on the account in there, or you can set up another account and buy it through that since the purchase it linked to the box and not the account. Neither is particularly convenient...
