I said WOW.

Very nice. I had the misfortune to play the PC version.

Now where's the patch to fix the controls? The game is still useless if it controls like buggery.

yeah the pc version in some ways (not resolution) looked worse than the ps2 version. it used the ps2 version and basically had flat lighting up until this point.

what's been fixed is the lighting and if i'm not mistaken they've added some fog too, which really helps with the atmosphere of the outside areas.

The PC version kicks ass except some low res backgrounds here and there! Can't imagine to go back to the console versions after playing this.

Just get yourself a nice gamepad though, like I did!

Whoa, the patch has 70MBs. It probably replaces all levels' geometry files, since the original ones didn't seem to have neither the vertex-color information nor the point lights.

Now all we need are the models and map geometry from the GCN version and were set.

Apparently the patch also changes some texture files, as it seems people are asking for the new updated texture folder.

It's just emulating a controller stick... far from native mouse support.

What scene was this from? I don't remember it at all. (only played the GC version. Was this added in the PS2 one?)

I don't remember where you are exactly, castle? but you have to go behind the chair to gain access to either an underground lab or some dungeon or something... it gives you the option to sit down but nothing happens besides that commentary. Sorry for being vague the game didn't have much of a lasting impression on me.

Saw it in PS2 version. Seemingly a straight homage to the end of God of War 1.

It's after the cutscene knife fight with Krauser, and right before the hallway with the lasers.

If I remember correctly its that room before the laser-traps. When you go up to the chair it gives you the option to "sit down" and that little scene pops up. Nothing special.

Edit: I'm blind, I was beaten.

Post-edit: I don't understand why they would release the game in its original form (no lighting?) and then patch it soon after magically unlocking the lighting. WTF were they thinking?

I started replaying it on the PS2 a little while ago, but held off for this. Now I can play in 1080p glory. Haven't played much of it yet but it seems to run smooth so far. Looks like the only really jarring thing left is the prerendered cutscene vids.

I always thought those throne poses were a homage to the Conan movie, at the end after he conquers all his enemies. It's used everywhere.. Warcraft, GoW, here.. etc.

I adore both... But Gears is more fun and playable. RE4 I'd rather watch someone else play.

you should check up on the meaning of "predates" .

about the patch, its just ridiculous how little effort was put into this port, people should be jailed for this kind of stuff. and this patch doesnt help much to the people who bought this game when it came out, since most of them probably uninstalled the game and burned the DVD after a minute of that shit.

Yeah I made a mistake...predate = released before. :P

And about the patch, the game looks freakin' good now but it's still the PS2 version in HD, +AA & AF. :P

If Capcom actually released an updated version of the GC game on the next gen consoles that would've been really awesome... ^__^

My word, who made this patch, Ubi or Capcom? it's like they had their entire production budget doubled post the game going gold or something, night and day difference, if it weren't for the fact that I am committed to RE4Wii I would get this, much, much better.

The cutscenes aren't pre-rendered. They are MPG captures from the Gamecube version.

FYI, Ubisoft only published this. They didn't develop it (nor did Capcom). It was outsourced, and it shows (especially the fact that it's the PS2 version!). I'm still waiting for the definitive edition (RE4 Wii).
