360 Elite at Wal-Mart

I was at Wal-Mart about a hour ago and they had Xbox 360 Elite systems, the black controller, the black play and charge kit, and the 120 gig HDD out on shelves. Did the date get moved up or did they just break the date? I've never seen this store break street dates before for anything.

I would have gotten one, but I don't want to get it at Wal-Mart. I want to get one from some place where I can get an extended warranty.

20 gigs is more then enough for me now, but its good to know if i do upgrade, or get an elite, i'll be able to transfer my saves

I am upset. I just paid $520 to Costco to get the Elite, one extra wireless controller and the P&C kit. I wont get my Elite until freaking May because of the shipping time. I really wish I would have just waited and be able to hit one of these places and get the darn thing. It so would have made this Saturday's 360 LAN party so much better.

You wouldn't be upset if you didn't preorder. Being handcuffed like that always sucks when Joe Blow goes into the store next door and scores something without having preordered, and days or weeks in advance.

I think it's funny myself. I didn't preorder Gears of War, but I got it a day before many EB customers because EB had that shipping fiasco with many of their stores (or in certain regions of the country anyway).

I never preorder. I live within driving distance of EB, but also about 10 other department or electronics stores (as does almost everyone else; EBs are often small stores in malls or in well-shopped commercial districts). Finding a new game is as easy as walking into any of them if EB's preorder-only allotment is snagged.

Kudos to the people who got the system early!

Yes, thats the one reason why I decided to get it from Costco because of the return policy. They told me it was flawless. I just had to return my launch 360 to BestBuy after the GH2 patch, and I would expect my original PR warranty would still cover me for the remaining time of the 2 years I paid for, but NO. Once you actually use it, then it becomes innfective. It doesnt matter if your 360 even broke a month after you got it, you warranty expires after the first exchange. I was so pissed. I still payed for a new warranty, but I felt robbed. Still, considering my launch machine lasted one year and a half, I was happy with the quality of the product. However this warranty policies are BS, thats why this time I decided to go with Costco.

I'm sure Microsoft does. There is a reason they picked April 29th as the release date, and it has very little to do with it just sounds good.

April 29th means the Elite gets tracked for April NPD. Huge first day sales....means huge boost for April.

At the same time, it would only be out for a couple of days, so the remaining of the "launch" elite sales would go into May ...buffing up May NPD sales.

By breaking street dates that means April should be bigger for the 360, but May will suffer.

I know it's the new retard pack, but I'm getting a new HDTV at the end of the year, and it will be a 1080p machine with a bunch of HDMI inputs...I'd be interested in having an HDMI in at that time for 1080p games and DVD upscaling.

Well, most stores won't even give you store credit so props to Costco for that. OTOH, most stores would give you a full refund within 30 days if you bought the system with a credit card. Costco won't even go through the trouble of checking your credit card history, they'll just give you store credit without a receipt. Store credit of $500 or more is kinda bad, isn't it, when you don't have anything immediate to buy from Costco?

Not everyone tries to abuse the system. I had a friend who just didn't like what he bought. He tried to return it within 30 days but he lost his receipt. He was pretty mad that he had $600 tied up with Costco.

It changed but only for computers and certain electronics. Not consoles, although Sony keeps insisting the PS3 is a computer.... jk.

I don't think it will sell like gangbusters but it is going to be hard to determine which version is selling the best. I don't think NPD release numbers based on different SKUs, do they? Also, why make it seem like it's just Xbots that say the PS3 is too expensive? A bunch of Sony fans are saying the same thing.
