some informations :
PS3 has never been out of stock in France. Despite bigger stock, PS3 was almost sold as much as Wii in the first 2 days (78k vs 75k). Wii is still hard to find in april whereas PS3 can be found easily. by the way, those numbers are for the first 3 months of 2007. I don't know french wii numbers for December : All I know (official Nintendo numbers) is that Wii sold 350k (first 2 days) and 700k (end of december) in Europa. So we can say that at the end of the year Wii sold finally about twice than it was sold during two first days. So I deduce from it that it was the same for France. So maybe Wii sold approximately 300K to march (75+75+144) (despite short supplies) |

So I think its safe to say that Yes the demand has significantly dropped after the launch. |

There's little evidence of success after the launch period thus far, as to be expected by many. It had a great launch; the very first to be tested with HUGE launch supply, and had an effective result because of it. The following week's drop-offs are also relevant pieces of information. Balance and all that... |

So, wait...who is doomed? Somebody has to be doomed, right? Is it Microsoft? They're hardly ever doomed.

Ok so heres a summary of how its done in Europe (all weeks are calender weeks) 600k the first weekend like we all know - LINK - 165k of which was in the UK A total of 800k after 4 calender weeks - LINK We know from the above info that the PS3 sold 81k in TWO calender weeks in France like you said which just makes the last two weeks even worse than it already was for the PS3. We know from the UK in the second week PS3 sales dropped 82% - LINK We know from the third week of UK sales the Wii outsold the PS3 - LINK The UK sales look like this 165k - First week 29700 - Second week (82% drop) 17k - Third week ??? - Fourth week If the UK ratios represented Europe the sales would look like this Europe 600k - First week 108k - Second week (Based off the UK ratio) 61818 - Third week (Based off the UK ratio) 30182 - Fourth week (800k-108k-61818) Going based off this the PS3 only sold 8.3k in the UK in the fourth week Looking back on French sales we know 81k in two weeks which means it represents around 11.5% of Europe (based off 81k/708k) which would then mean it only sold about 11k in the next 2 weeks (92k*.115) which would give it a weekly average of 5.5k in the last two weeks We KNOW that over three months the Wii averaged 11k weekly (144k/13) So again how hard is it for you to accept that fact that YES the PS3 sales have slowed down and from what we know all our sources point to the Wii already outselling it on a week to week basis again (additionally the Wii is supply constrained). Also I know everyones going to try and rip into my assumption that the ratios stayed the same. YES i realize they could have changed. I personally think the 4th week is a tad low and the other weeks actually didnt sell as well. Keep in mind if you want to claim that the PS3 sold more than I said in France and UK that means it sold WORSE in the rest of Europe due to the fact that there is a max that the PS3 could have sold from Sony's numbers. |

So it really doesnt seem that farfetched that it could be dong those kind of numbers. Last edited by Chumly : 04-28-2007 at 09:46 PM. |

Not going to get involved in the PS3/Wii talk, but Microsoft's numbers are atrocious.
14K a month in France? Extrapolating that a bit, is the 360 really only doing about 100K a month in Europe? That's horrid. It's really looking like the 360 is only going to be strong in one territory. Wii's going to catch it worldwide by August. |
