Nintendo Wii : 144.000
Playstation 2 : 92.000
PSP : 90.000
Playstation 3 : 81.000
Xbox 360 : 43.000

Yeah, but PS3 has sold very poorly in Europe the following weeks after its launch, like in Japan and the US.

81,000 for the week, compared to Europe's total of 600,000 is actually rather small. Bearing in mind that it dropped 82% the week after in UK (in UK, I think) and then down much further the week after.

Wii's shipments to France aren't that impressive at all.

some informations :
PS3 has never been out of stock in France.
Despite bigger stock, PS3 was almost sold as much as Wii in the first 2 days (78k vs 75k).
Wii is still hard to find in april whereas PS3 can be found easily.

by the way, those numbers are for the first 3 months of 2007. I don't know french wii numbers for December : All I know (official Nintendo numbers) is that Wii sold 350k (first 2 days) and 700k (end of december) in Europa.
So we can say that at the end of the year Wii sold finally about twice than it was sold during two first days.
So I deduce from it that it was the same for France.
So maybe Wii sold approximately 300K to march (75+75+144) (despite short supplies)

It's the whole march. PS3 sales in UK dropped from first weekend of 165k to next weeks 30k. In France first 4 days was like 50-60k, with next 3 days 20-30k. Not as big of a drop, and still amazing sales, no matter what.

Why do you guys feel threatened every time something has better sales than Wii in some country? It's not like Wii is the biggest phenomenon ever (though it is extremely successful).

Considering 600k consoles were sold in Europe in the first week - LINK

Of which 81k was from France which makes it 13.5% of Europe

An additional 200k consoles were sold in Europe the following 3 weeks - LINK

Of which about 27k should have been from France

Which gives it a weekly average of 9k

Which is lower than the 3 month Wii weekly average of 11k and its supply constrained.

So I think its safe to say that Yes the demand has significantly dropped after the launch.

Whatever, if they overshipped the Wii's would be collecting dust like PS3's right? j/k

This is just hilarious because of the Sony Bombed in France FUD And the 360 love boat was supposed to counter PS3's launch HAhahahahahahahaa

We all know that the French hates the U.S. so why would they be eager to "Jump In?"

Well, to take things with a grain of salt, those PS3 sales do include launch sales as well. Can we get some figures for what the Wii launch sales were for them in their 1st 3 months as well?

It's actually 2 weeks for France, but nice try (not day to day weeks, but calendar weeks). I have no idea how you came with a conclusion that Wii is selling faster anyway, you should work at SONY's PR.

A more relevant question could be to ask why you interpret such entries of discussion as reactions of being threatened.

Giving incomplete information could give off the impression that PS3 is currently selling well in Europe. There's little evidence of success after the launch period thus far, as to be expected by many. It had a great launch; the very first to be tested with HUGE launch supply, and had an effective result because of it. The following week's drop-offs are also relevant pieces of information. Balance and all that...

Yea, it's called a launch. Imagine that.

Wii's launch is not represented in the numbers.

Not to mention Wii has shipped less to Europe than anywhere else, and is in shortage.

These are good numbers for everyone (except MS), no reason to come in here with blinders on.

Whoa, ouch.

I wouldn't call that a steep demand dropoff (just normalization after launch week), but it blows apart his "omg outselling Wii" talking point.

edit: Whoa, 360 only has a weekly average of 3500 in France. Assuming 3 months is 12 weeks.

Honestly I dont know why its so hard for you to accept that the demand has fallen off. All of our sources point to this.

Ok so heres a summary of how its done in Europe (all weeks are calender weeks)

600k the first weekend like we all know - LINK - 165k of which was in the UK

A total of 800k after 4 calender weeks - LINK

We know from the above info that the PS3 sold 81k in TWO calender weeks in France like you said which just makes the last two weeks even worse than it already was for the PS3.

We know from the UK in the second week PS3 sales dropped 82% - LINK

We know from the third week of UK sales the Wii outsold the PS3 - LINK

The UK sales look like this

165k - First week
29700 - Second week (82% drop)
17k - Third week
??? - Fourth week

If the UK ratios represented Europe the sales would look like this

Europe

600k - First week
108k - Second week (Based off the UK ratio)
61818 - Third week (Based off the UK ratio)
30182 - Fourth week (800k-108k-61818)

Going based off this the PS3 only sold 8.3k in the UK in the fourth week

Looking back on French sales we know

81k in two weeks

which means it represents around 11.5% of Europe (based off 81k/708k)

which would then mean it only sold about 11k in the next 2 weeks (92k*.115)

which would give it a weekly average of 5.5k in the last two weeks

We KNOW that over three months the Wii averaged 11k weekly (144k/13)

So again how hard is it for you to accept that fact that YES the PS3 sales have slowed down and from what we know all our sources point to the Wii already outselling it on a week to week basis again (additionally the Wii is supply constrained).

Also I know everyones going to try and rip into my assumption that the ratios stayed the same. YES i realize they could have changed. I personally think the 4th week is a tad low and the other weeks actually didnt sell as well. Keep in mind if you want to claim that the PS3 sold more than I said in France and UK that means it sold WORSE in the rest of Europe due to the fact that there is a max that the PS3 could have sold from Sony's numbers.

I realize but Im just trying to point out that YES the PS3 sales have dropped significantly unlike what some people like to think.

EDIT: Also even if the PS3 averaged 5.5k weeks in France it would STILL be doing better than the 360 which is averaging 3.5k a week. So it really doesnt seem that farfetched that it could be dong those kind of numbers.

Not going to get involved in the PS3/Wii talk, but Microsoft's numbers are atrocious.

14K a month in France? Extrapolating that a bit, is the 360 really only doing about 100K a month in Europe? That's horrid. It's really looking like the 360 is only going to be strong in one territory. Wii's going to catch it worldwide by August.
