Poorly phrased. Regretable. I'm trying to do 4 freakin' things at once, I have so much to do tonight. One of them is dinner.

As I think I made clear, what I really feel is that for a multi-console and PC gamer, the PS3's library right now is represented mostly by compromised ports, and little real quality, standout, and exclusive titles (something someone like me needs). It's early, and we're all used to post-launch droughts, it's easy for me to look back at the PS2's massive library, filled with plenty of quality, exclusive content, and forget that it takes time.

I never had an Xbox, so at least with the X360 there were plenty of elements that were new to me. I have a GCN, but the Wii has utterly replaced it, and hell, I started off with 6 launch titles (have about 10 now), most of them exclusive. And when things hit a lull, the VC and GCN BC are fantastic fall-backs.

It irks me to have my PS3 relegated to a $600 DVD player (I got the BD Remote for it, and it actually plays back DVDs way better than my X360, which was more primary DVD player previously), while the freakin' PS2 continues to get outstanding games.

Relegating this view into "the games are shit" is unfair. But for $600, I expected better. And more of it.

Seriously. VF5 is still the 2007 GoTY IMO and I've easily logged over 100+ hours into it. I play 5-10 hours a week in vs. mode and have only reached a satisfying level of high-level play with Akira/Jeffry/Eileen, which still leaves 15 characters to master! Wouldn't be surprised if I get 500 hours into the game by the end of the year.

Between this, Resistance, and Blu-ray watching, I've easily gotten my $1000 worth.

This Update kicks ass...now i only wish you'd be able to upscale DVD's without an HDMI cable...would that be possible? I'm not talking about like DVD movies that you buy, but DVD videos that you make at home w/ WMM.

What about Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Uncharted, Haze, Ratchet TOD, Warhawk, SOCOM: Confrontation, and Little Big PLant in 2007 confuses you?

Honestly, I don't think I'd pick it up unless it was a HUGE version revision with tons of re-balancing and new moves...

When you and your friends have built up characters with 1,000s of matches and an insane number of well-earned and many (extremely) rare items...yeah, you're not going to want to lose all that and start over for some better quest AI.

Plus load times aren't an issue since I changed hard drives, and since me & friend play about 50 matches straight with same character v. same character. We get zero load times for 99% of it.

Kudos, Sony. That's two big updates PACKED with features we've always wanted. I can't help but think that SOME of them, at least, should have been ready for launch, but there's no going about it. Giving us the huge feature upgrades that we want is a great, great thing.

the 360 version is like what 6 more months after. Why would you wait. Especially when it wont have online play. And i doubt the loading will be faster without a hard driver.

Do we actually need to if it can be enabled and disabled? As for PS1/2 Smoothing -- I think that's like texture smoothing like the PS2 did to PS1 games. I'm more interested in PS1/2 scaling... I mean, what would different settings (low, norm, high) do? Shouldn't it just upscale to 720p/1080i/1080p?

Texture smoothing on PSX titles was an actual addition to the emulation. The PS2 emulation on PS3 is EE/GS based (currently) ... so I don't see how it is possible to do something similar.


My guess is it is a selectable filter (hopefully filters) that is used in conjunction with the scaling algorithm.

It may be similar to the filter(s) seen in emu's on PC?

I stand by the fact that it was a real leak. In the Sony forum moderator's statement she never states that the information is fake. She simply suggests that you don't trust everything you hear unless it comes from Sony.

Packaged releases you can count on one hand and a couple of downloadable titles are not enough. I know things will get better; all consoles start out this way and I felt the same about most past systems I've owned. I'm all over Ninja Gaiden Sigma, but I don't really care about the rest of the games you mentioned.
