last part say "release date and price could change" so probably it's just a random placeholder date (the fact there is no mention of this anywhere doesn't help either) but you can never know

I hope it's true... let's wait and see
is this not just for playing import GC games?
I think it means it works in both Wii and Gamecube modes. If the cover isn't just a mockup, it looks like a variant of the original Freeloader (note "for Wii" as opposed to "for Gamecube" in the above image)... one that works for Wii and import games. Amazingly awesome if true.Originally Posted by The Innocent X

Fake fake fake
But watch about 10 or so Nintendo Fan Sites pick it up any way *rolleyes*
WHy does it have a 360 motif? I assume it came first.Originally Posted by radioheadrule83

No he has a Japanese one, I believe. But Metroid games get stiffed over there.Originally Posted by ghst

Just like all games get gipped over here (PAL)
Has that just been the Prime series or all Metroids? Always wondered...Originally Posted by sp0rsk

Not for Wii games.
Though I wonder if a Wii Freeloader IS coming, but the site has just made their own box art to compensate for it. Surely they can't take money for a product that doesn't exist, can they?

There is no wondering here.
"PLAY GAMECUBE GAMES FROM ANY COUNTRY ON YOUR GAMECUBE CONSOLE"
And then "works with Wii".
It means you can play your Jap/US games on your PAL Wii.
Nothing more.
Edit : forgot to mention, it's not new.
If you guys actually clicked on the link in the OP, you would see that it was a different cover. However, it looks to me like that company have just made their own boxart, though it's likely a indication of a proper Wii version coming soon.

Now, if its the same thing, that sucks... but this shouldn't really be hard to ascertain:

If we were to go by the FreeLoader, then yes, Datel will release a US version and a PAL version.Originally Posted by Gattsu25

I confused the nice lady on the MaxTV Datel telesales team by talking about Wii's, Gamecube's, Italian websites, Purple Freeloaders and Blue Freeloaders -- so she passed me on to the technical department..
Firstly:
Okay. So I explained the Italian site, the June 30 date and asked whether there was a Wii specific product on the way:Originally Posted by Datel
The Freeloader that's available now only works with Gamecube games
Do you know if release is imminent or is it a way off?Originally Posted by Datel
Its my understanding that there is a product on the way that will work for Wii games as well, yes
So there you go. I know about as much as I did beforehand, but hopefully this can temper expectations a little. It's coming, but we don't know when. And neither does YouTou.it in all likelyhood.Originally Posted by Datel
There's no release date as yet
Damn, I have a 1.6b gamecube freeloader and an Action Replay Freeloader and neither of them work on my Wii... nor does the swap discs trick thingOriginally Posted by Nemesis556
I have one of these to play my US cube games on my PAL Wii. It works a treat.
:lol It's sad but true.Originally Posted by VOOK
Very cool, it'll probably arrive before Super Paper Mario

That one will work (for your Gamecube games on Wii). I picked it up earlier in the year.
That's odd, I'm pretty sure my Freeloader is 1.6b and it works fine with my Wii, though it does not work with the newer GC hardware revision (the one without the digital out port).Originally Posted by Dash Kappei

I sometimes have trouble getting my ARP to work to, and I have the newest one, this is what I do: Start up your Wii and go to the Wii/GC game channel and put in your ARP disc, as soon as the option to start the game pops up click it.Originally Posted by Dash Kappei

What's with this "WORKS WITH WII" sticker ?Originally Posted by radioheadrule83
I don't see why youtoo would mock up a new cover for something coming out on the 30th, if it was just going to be the same product that I posted an image for above:
It's supposed to be a Wii Freeloader :lol
But that doesn't help that much. No 100% compatibility=no sale.Originally Posted by Jokeropia

Come on Datel, get moving. Finish that thing before MP3 hits.
Amazing how they can have "Wii" on the cover six times, yet still leave me confused whether it'll play Wii games.Originally Posted by radioheadrule83

It clearly says "works on Wii in Gamecube mode". Why do people continue to be confused? It's the same old Freeloader, nothing to see here.
Shut up! I'm trying to forget that exists, after all, you can't miss what you don't know about, :(Originally Posted by VOOK

Saying this Italian mockup, that clearly says it's for Gamecube, is an indication of such a Freeloader for Wii games coming just seems like very wishful thinking to me. Why make a mockup saying it's for Gamecube if it's for Wii?Originally Posted by radioheadrule83

Oh well, believe what you will!
You're looking at the image quoted in the thread, aren't you? This is the one in the link:Originally Posted by callous

How about the fact that radioheadrule83 called Datel up and the guy saying it's coming, just don't ask when?Originally Posted by callous

Aaaanyway, yes, that's exactly the one I'm looking at. It clearly says "Works on Wii in Gamecube mode".
That's totally fine! I don't dispute that at all. What I dispute is that this Italian site is an indication that we'll get a Wii freeloader on June 30. Especially when the mockup says "in Gamecube mode"! Now, of course that blurb could be a really confusing way for them to say that" hey guys, we have another product that also works on Wii, but only in Gamecube mode". It doesn't make much sense, though.Originally Posted by Bust Nak

That's exactly my point. Considering they already have a "works on Wii" sticker on the "Freeloader for Gamecube" (obviously referring to the ability to play GC discs), one would assume that a product instead named "Freeloader for Wii" (and also given a future release date) implies something more.Originally Posted by callous

Edit: Also, this is what the text on the Italian site says (babelfished translation):
Finally the Datel has announced the release of the freeloader also for Wii, now we can return to play the Japanese games and Americans on the house consul nintendo. It has not been still communicated if he will be compatible with the games of the Game Cube! Date and price can endure variations
