It's schedule to last a two & and half hours but please note that this doesn't represent the length of the actual presentation or whatever form this event will take.
In any case, it seems like Sony are feeling pretty confident about what they have and it seems like it could be their biggest software reveal of the show.

Who said what about Killzone? I'd be genuinely surprised if it didn't shit all over Halo 3 on a visual level, in terms of tech and design. Now actual game quality, that's a different story.

When the first screens do eventually drop everyone on GAF is going to be continuosly pressing F5 until sometime in August so I wouldn't worry about it.

All signs point to a good showing because why else Sony would push something into the spotlight. Can't wait for the comparison pics and sales predictions between halo 3 and killzone.

Maybe it's just that good? If it is, then this sounds like perfect timing. If it isn't... well, then Sony should probably just turn around and sell off Guerrilla to some investment firm.

Not that it really makes sense. I'm more interested in seeing how it holds up against COD4.

its funny cause that same line has been used before pretty much every major sony event of the last few years, and they always manage to screw it up.

i'll say it right here. visually, i bet killzone will look better.

the lighting will be amazing. the physics should impress, but not steal the show. art/animation/immersion will be great.

I certainly expect it to look better than COD4. At half the framerate (if that), but generally better.

Then again, we haven't seen COD4 PC yet.

True, but Sony isn't trying to out 'HALO', HALO3, quite the opposite. The games are poles apart in their art style and even their tone.

Killzone is aiming for more of a Saving Private Ryan feel while HALO plays it as more mainstream sci-fi action/adventure, though certainly not without grit itself.

The fact is, for a game of this size, Sony must go their own way, they know they can't dethrone HALO, they are just using the slipstream created by HALO to promote their own product. All Sony can do is create the best game they possibly can and the rest is for history to decide.

...and didn't mention the graphics on the BETA once :P

I'm already sick of the comparisons, and they haven't even happened yet! Not since the days of Madden vs. 2K have two games been setup for fanboy bitching.

Killzone will be compared to the bar they set with the CG video at E3 2005, while Halo 3 will be held to the bar set by the announcement trailer from last year's E3. I'm expecting both to be spectacular.

It's clear Sony really, really wants to go head to head with Halo 3. I do hope the developers are doing their own thing, rather than gunning for Bungie's juggernaut.

You really think the media wants to miss out on Killzone? For better or worse, it's a huge deal and everyone is going to want to be there for it. I'd say that dinner party might end up being a ghost party, if anything.

My bet: Killzone 2 will have better detail on objects, but AI will be uninspired and scale will be traditional corridor-style shooter ala CoD. Halo 3 will not have the same detail, but will have a great lighting model and combat scale that rivals most other shooters with some more amazing AI. Fanboys will deride and laud both, and BishopTL will go home content with the bannings.

As if it would matter how fun it is at this point. People, including you, will focus squarely on graphics, and on how it holds up against that old trailer. No one is going to give a **** about how it plays, not at this point in time.
