If it reviews well (gamerankings) I'll pick it up just to see what all the fuss is about (the Saturn is the only Sega home console I never owned). Otherwise I'll rent it to see what all the fuss is about. Either way I'm sure that this version will get more exposure than the Saturn original. It'll be a shame if they somehow manage to shit it up in the process.

Just buy a damn Saturn and the game. I'm pretty sure they're cheaper together than what this'll be new.

How much fun you have with a game is directly related to how challenging that game is. Easy=boring.

Last I checked a Saturn was still $100+. I already have the game. Somewhere. At my parents house. Picked it up for like $5 in order to get a Saturn controller to plug into my XBox through an adaptor. Didn't work. I'll have to ask the little brother.

Nights was a good game and I still consider it one of the few early 3D games that still hold up well today; along with games like Tobal. I know the sequel isn't as gorgeous as it's accompanying CG, but even as a 360 owner with an HDTV, fail to see how it's "ugly".

I am starting to SERIOUSLY consider to start the first petition ever claiming for a game to be delayed. I am serious. I know, Internet petitions doesn't archieve anything, blablabla, but godammn. I saw a demostration on the E3 of this game. I must tell you that it has the potential of becoming a fantastic title since the core game mechanics are there with no shitty friends or vehicles or whatever, just time attacks and imaginative boss figths.

However, SEGA, in all his wisdom, has decided that this game will be launched this christmas, against Mario Galaxy, GTA or Halo 3, and that in just 6 months they are going to solve the graphic problems, end making all the levels, oh, AND finishing a control scheme with the wiimote since the only one they have right now is the classic with a joystick.

It is so retarded and painful to see a game with such a potential being sent to die that I wanted to start slapping every SEGA executive that I saw *sigh*

This is the team that brought us Shadow the Hedgehog. So it shouldn't come as a big surprise. Disappointing nonetheless.

No, I'm not. This has been known for quite some time. The only returning guys from the first game are the lead designer (who is now the producer), sound director, and art director. It's the old Sonic Team USA.

Well, Lead Designer + Art Director + Sound Director seems key roles for a Nights game...

IMHO, Graphics DID matter for the original Nights, they DID their part in making their experience of playing the game what it was. Back when it came out, and especially for the Saturn, Nights had quite rich and lush graphics and the game levels were filled with small detail.

lmfao, great goal.

You realize the old Ratchet and Clank that came out like 4 years ago looks better than that game, right? SMS wasn't exactly a graphical glory back in 2002 when it came out, either.

** off to play the classic** Soo much sweet butter in that vid. :)

Yeah I played the original.. didn't noticed were I said "it looks like the original", not "it looks exactly identical" ???

Also remember, people that either played the Wii game or watched someone else play it ..all say that it looks a lot better in motion and that it plays like the original game..

So it's better to actually wait and see..rather than start badmotuhing the game like no tomorrow based on some bad quality pictures, a trailer with no music and a developer that previously made one "average" game..that still managed to sell quite good..especially, after years of many people whining about wanting a NiGHTs port/sequel.

Kind of an odd point to make in a thread about a sequel to a score attack game where the entire objective was to replay the same level over and over again until you mastered it.

If NiGHTS 2 isn't conducive to that level replay, then it won't be a very good follow-up to the original. So maybe this game isn't for you?

The fact that the game looks bad is not the fault of the Wii, it is the fault of the dev. team for knowning the Wii's limitations and still trying to do the game in this style. This is a game about a dreamworld for God's sake. They could have done something really cool with the aesthetic. Hell, even just going cell shaded would have bee a better option.

I think it looks fine. Gameplaywise, the core elements are there they just need to lay out the level designs. Its not like NiGHTS is an epic game. Its a bunch of levels you play over and over again. I think they can do justice to the game in the 5 remaining months (that plus the mechanics seemed to be in place way back in April when the first shots were released, and probably well before that even. Who really knows when they made the demo videos, and it might look very different now. Even if it doesnt, its still NIGHTS. and thats what matters to me.

It was gameplay, it looked quite stale compared to the original and it's all we have to go on. There's really not much more to be said at this point.

I can't understand what Sammy's strategy has been since taking over Sega. It's like they think that it's better to get a game out on time than make sure that it's finished. I didn't bother to play Sonic PS3/360 but the impressions I read suggested that it needed more time and I know that Sonic and the Secret Rings for all it's positive aspects didn't seem like a finished game either.

Is Sammy trying to kill Sega so they sell off all the franchises in some kind of fire sale or something? I'm still hoping that maybe the game will just be short on production value and story like SATSR was and the core gameplay will still be good because otherwise what was the point of bringing back NiGHTS in the first place?

Maybe its still a placeholder- Umbrella Chronicles is the same day as well..maybe it isn't the final date (I can't fathom Sega and Capcom releasing their big 3rd party Wii games the day after Galaxy).

But yeah, first of all, I agree with Segata (and not only because my love for Sega will never die, the Saturn was what made me a Sega fan)... we get it, people think the graphics are atrocious, no one is actually arguing with you on this fact, it doesn't require repetition. I myself have not been too impressed with what I've seen of the game so far... but I'm still likely going to buy it, because it still looks to retain a lot of the things that made NiGHTS so cool in the first place. Besides, folks, if you want next-gen graphics on a NiGHTS game, you're going to have to support this one so that we can get a Wii2/WiiHD sequel, instead of letting it die a brutal brutal death... again.
Personally, though, I'm waiting for Sega to bring back Burning Rangers... that game rocked my world.

People really need to stop taking Wii bullshots, smoothly downscaling them to roughly the Wii's resolution, and trying to pass the end result off as what the game will actually look like. It's practically the same thing as the bullshot itself. Doesn't matter as much with these screens as with others, though.

The original NiGHTS played really slowly too, if you totally sucked at it... and judging by what we saw in the clip, the guy demoing the game REALLY sucked at it.
