I *want* to buy Break 'em all, but it's a real bitch to find anywhere to send to Australia. This looks pretty awesome though, especially with the controller.

I'm surprised Nintendo hasn't done a DS version of Alleyway yet. Arkanoid with classic Nintendo brick layouts? I'd be there.

It's about time. I just hope this isn't by the dev that raped all of Taito's other franchises on DS.

Remember the good ol days when Taito was relevant?

Sounds like it's actually Taito this time, not MMV.

Though I think Bubble Bobble Double Shot and New Zealdand Story Revolution looked okay... MMV started "getting it" eventually...

It's called "Brick 'em All" in Europe and Australia - might be able to find it under that name.

As a product, it looks to be getting a cool revamp, like Picross and Panel de Pon. The blocks themselves seem to be small squares, rather than the rectangles of old, so I'm not sure how it will play.

You can buy the standalone game, or the game + white paddle bundle. The blue/pink/silver/black paddles will be sold separately.

Although the paddle controller is awesome, I hope there's an option to still use the stylus like Break em All.

"Paddle" controller? I was thinking it was more similar to an arcade "spinner". ?

Oh god, what's with all this love for Break'em All? It's such a horrible Arkanoid clone. The lack of ball physics is just terrible; you're better off playing break out on your iPod if you have one.

Don't settle for imitations. Get Arkanoid DS. Break'em All is weaksauce.

That's the first thing I thought of (though Warlords was on that awful Atari Smashed Classics comp that came out at launch). They should take a second stab at an Atari compilation with support for this thing. Activision should too.

No chance, of course, but it would be marvelous.

OK, I'll be the first to say this looks bad. And I have arkanoid on the PSone with paddle controller.

Why are they breaking the game over both screens? This is a game that on later levels makes you judge your angles carefully. How the hell will you do that with an inch of plastic between the screens, and the screens being non-level?

Why couldn't they just run the game on the top or bottom screen? The resolution should be fine for the original arcade game at least, and they could run it in tate mode like brain training if needed.

Going over both screens is fine, I'm just worried that they're not accounting for the "dead zone" between them it looks like... angles would be way easier to judge if they did. :/

Ugh. They're trying to do the cool new look like Panel de Pon DS, but I don't think it quite works. Still, I'm sure I'll get it for that novelty paddle if nothing else.

BTW, it's difficult to see in pics, but the paddle has a regular size GBA cart bit, so it will work on a regular DS and stick out a bit on a DS lite.

That paddle controller is brilliant. It would be cool if the game was kind of like a visualization program and every time you hit the bricks with your ball the background would change or ripple or something.

Jimminy Christmas!

1. It's a freakin' DS game. If you want pretty graphics there's a portable gaming device called a PSP that does those really well.

2. IT'S ARKANOID, STFU BLASPHEMER! >:|

The game was announced (with Nitnendo WiFi support) and set for a release this summer. Not sure what the status is at the moment. The boxart was revealed last week...

- some screens here
- some facts here
- boxart doesn't hold the NWC logo
- developer's signature on forums does hold NWC logo

Don't take my word for it. Play the slow, tedious, repetitive, challenge-free garbage for yourself. Don't come crying to me when you've wasted your money.

(To answer a few of the queries above: no enemies, no Doh, no original game.)
