Has Marathon: Durandal made you sick? Post here.
#1
The latest phenomenon on the Xbox Live Arcade scene is the classic Bungie game that apparently causes motion sickness for many of its users.
Post here if you've played this game, and it made you sick. Also, post if you played it, and experienced no problems whatsoever. And if you haven't taken a ride on this stomach-turning rollercoaster of a first person shooter, what are you waiting for? Give it a try today. "Achievement Unlocked" if you keep your lunch through the entire campaign. I played it on the Mac years ago and it did nothing of the sort.
Is the XBLA version different? |

I finished the first level, I felt pretty ill but not quite to the point of throwing up, but I probably would have with another 10-20 minutes. None of us had bought it yet luckily, and we've recommended against it to our other friends. I already mentioned it in the other thread, but this is total bullshit that this passed QA, because this is affecting much more than a very small % of people (look at any gaming board today), and even if they fix it I actually refuse to buy it. Total ****ing bullshit. Edit: Also to add I have never gotten sick in over 20 years of gaming, and I've played all the games that apparently have had sickness problems (Turok, Breakdown, etc), and neither have the other two guys that I know of. I can't play the game. I feel like I'm going to have an epileptic seizure. I start feeling tingly and just quit out.

I haven't attempted to read in a car in a couple of years because the second I try oh man you better not be sitting near me. |

I played through the first 4 levels and felt a pretty nasty afterwards. I haven't tried turning down the sensitivity at all yet.
Later today I played several hours of Doom and felt nothing. I think it might have to do with Doom (as well as most FPS) having a bit of a bob when the character moves. I didn't notice this with Marathon. Having that slight rhythmic up and down motion takes the focus of the constant spinning. At least that's my theory. |
