Well, the disc-drive is silent as far as I am concerned. All you can hear is the fan noise, which is a constant hum. That was all I could hear, though. No DVD spinning or caching, etc. only fan noise.
High Five to Wonderkins! Same manu date and all. :P |

Consoles in the past have certainly received upgrades, but most have been add-ons or rationalisation of units such as the slimmer PS2. The tv out on the PSP is pretty cool feature which would be compelling to upgrade I'm sure, which would annoy me as well! :(The PS3 seems safe except for the controllers, so that'll probably be my next investment. |

The multiple SKU issue is not nearly as confusing as everyone here makes it out to be. Joe Casual is probably going to be in a Best Buy or Walmart when he decides to pick up a 360. -He is not going to bother with an Elite because it is too expensive. He may not even know about it since Microsoft is not focusing all of their advertising on it. -The Halo 3 edition is irrelevant to someone like him. I also doubt we will see tons of these on store shelves anyway. -He probably couldn't give two shits about 65nm and HDMI so he is not going to be looking at lot numbers on boxes. That leaves him with the same options as there were in 2005; the Premium or the Core. This time they are $50 and $30 cheaper, respectively. MS has done to the 360 what everyone was screaming for them to do for almost two years. They added HDMI, fixed the RROD, and dropped the price. The fact that people are bitching is unbelievable. |

I don't mean to discourage you from buying it...but if you are the type who gets mad at this sort of thing...you might want to wait? The PS2 upgrade occurred many years after launch, but the PSP upgrade occurred just over 2 years after it was released...so it's hard to gauge when such things are going to happen. I've come to accept these things. Being an early adopter nowadays, whether it's for consoles, or iPods, or iPhones...the iteration that comes out in 2 or 3 years is always going to be better in many ways. |
