Nintendo WFC Online Activity (W/E August 19th)

Another high week this week, small boosts from Madden NFL 2008, Rune Factory and Mega Man, which hasn't been big games on the chart for previous weeks.

Next week is going to be interesting as well. Madden, charted at 9th this week, might get another small boost seeing as the problems online should be solved by now, and the game is about to be released in Europe this coming friday. The day before, August 23rd, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates will be released in Japan, also with online capacities, although there's no direct online multiplayer. Will the game fare into the Top 10 anyway?

The complete chart for week 33 of 2007 can be seen underneath.

Please note

- The number of connections listed in here is not unique connections, just the total number of connections for the service during the past week.

- These data are straight off of Nintendo's Wi-Fi site, through the freeware program WFCStatus.

- A Top 75 was released by me last week. See it here for comparison.

9. [WII] Madden NFL 2008 - 86,267 connections
I dunno what to feel about it :(
I think it's nice, since Wii players aren't supposed to buy games as soon as it comes out and play online (and it isn't even working well)...

But anyway, i thought we wouldn't see this number, since Madden is from EA network..

Stil hanging in there, though. I think we need to organise another GAF tournament to push the numbers a bit. :lol

Mid week update:

* The total number of connections are looking great this week, not a single day has been below 800k yet, averaging at 850k connections a day. This could be the biggest week ever and possibly the first week I can remember going above 6M connections for the week, and that is without any major game releases.

* A new online game was released in Japan yesterday, and first day connections were 4,100. The game is, of course, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates. Online is used for letters and item exchange in here, if I remember correctly.

* The fight for Strikers against Animal Crossing is over by now, there's no hope to get over that game again, even with the japanese release next month, I think. This week will be all about Mario Kart DS vs Strikers. For the first four days of the week the number of connections for those games looks like this:

- Mario Strikers Charged: 210,815 connections
- Mario Kart DS: 205,113 connections

* The other interesting part in the Top 10 is how well Madden will fare in its second week, after pushing Tetris DS out the list last week.

- Madden NFL 2008 [Wii]: 36,509 connections
- Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker (last weeks #10): 46,676 connections
- Tetris DS (last weeks #12): 32,368 connections

Could it be that Madden will only have one week in the Top 10? Sad :(

* Kinda like that, the Mega Man Star Force games doesn't look like they'll be able to enter the Top 10 this time around. Following two weeks at #11, all of them are dropping further this week, and there seems to be no way back now. They're still pretty high, though, going at an average of 7,500 connections a day.

Any sign of potential SSB:Brawl online tests?

Actually we now have a number of game codes for Wii games, which locates online activity, but we still haven't found out what game they represent. We have the code for upcoming online games over the next couple of months, so I wouldn't completely rule out the possibility. The two most active codes, which we have no idea on what game is right now, are:

M2: Average of 279 connections a day this week, 379 connections made thursday.
AB: Average of 199 connections a day this week, 217 connections made thursday.

Another upcoming game, which is highly active in this department is

Battalion Wars II: Average of 529 connections a day this week, a massive 774 connections made thursday.
