I think HS can be great. I was playing Crono Trigger recently and thought to myself, "I'm fighting wave after wave of enemies like people said HS would be" the thing that keeps me going on crono is leveling, the story, and such. HS seems to have a great story delivery, and different gameplay segments/puzzles. I doubt it will be like a street fighter story mode of arena after arena fight. There just don't seem to be any exploring. I play DMC over and over due to unlocking things but it's still fun to go through to make mobs look stupid by beating them into the ground until a boss come to slow down my rampage.

People should really take notice of this (hopefully..) If you are a fan of any demo/pre-release beta etc. you should give that precedence over any score received. Much better than trying to convince yourself that the game is either better/worse than when you played it based on opinions other than your own.

Actually, to be honest, and I've said this a couple of times before, I didn't like the combat in the demo terribly much compared to Ninja Gaiden or Devil May Cry. I just felt a lot more limited than those games, probably since there's no block or jump button and the camera is largely fixed.

I was hoping, however, that it's something that you grow to love over a few hours with it.

Considering the $40 price isn't even an issue for me, it's basically a AAA online experience according to EGM. I absolutely loved the BETA, and it's a day one purchase for me.

Actually you are wrong. The price was announced a few weeks back. That article dates to the first of this month. The review was published but a week ago. Which means they would have known about the price. But nice try :D
