You know, i like the damage control on this, but really, the DS trounced everything from sony combined. That's pretty impressive.

I can't believe people still buy GBAs, the DS is like $40 more and 10x better.
I can see the DS' hinge snapping and the touchscreen rendered useless from wear in the hands of eager children, but I still agree with your conclusion.

When you are the only hockey game in a country that adores hockey, and primarily purchases Nintendo systems, I think it's worth the risk. 30k in sales? Hell, that'd be great for Canada.

30K in potential sales is not reason enough to develop a game.

To date, Wii Sports has sold 140K in Canada. Even that amount is not enough to warrant the development of a title. Past hockey games have sold more on the PS2 or Xbox alone. Now, I'm purely basing this off Canadian sales, but the point is clear, making an inferior hockey game when there are far better ones out there is a big risk.

Still doesn't explain the absence of Mario Hockey =(

Canada is such a tiny market *cry*

I love Canada but really...

I can see why so many things that wont pass in US but will in Canada never get brought over, were far too tiny of a market

Zuh? Wii Sports has sold zero copies, unless you count pack-ins, in which case it's sold almost 400k.

It also doesn't help that everything is more expensive in Canada. Hopefully, the next round of price cuts sees hardware prices in the US and Canada retail about equal. Maybe we will see that with the PS3 soon.
