Both of the discs in my LE were loose and scratched up. Not horribly scratched, but still. They're working fine so far; let's hope it stays that way.
It's unbelievable and inexcusable that MS/Bungie (who handles packaging?) would ship the LEs like this. I mean, c'mon, this is Halo 3 we're talking about, one of the biggest (if not the biggest) game releases ever. All they had to do was use normal disc holders (the ones in the LE are different and don't work well at all).

Well, I have no idea who would have approved the design for the LE case.. got mine tonight and the discs fall out incredibly easily. I have no idea how this passed any sort of quality control.
Good news is that the game plays fine and is only minorly scratched. |

Eep. What a mess... but it could have been worse.
We had two people return their LEs for others tonight, but... the replacements were damaged. We eventually wound up swapping out a regular edition disc for the second customer (who was very nice about it, considering the circumstances). I wound up asking people as I let them in (four at a time) whether they had pre-ordered the LE and told them about the issue up-front. As fate would have it, the LE is what the store manager ordered-- and he didn't want to know if his was scratched or not. Great launch (we sold well over 100 units across the three SKUs), but wow... this is a black eye on MS, no matter who is at fault here. |

Took me 3 tries, but finally got a LE w/o any loose discs or scratches :D Play N Trade guy was super cool about giving me LE's to open and look at, even with the huge line. Kudos to them :)
That a game of this calibur could have a problem like this, is fucking ridiculous, really. Well, Microsoft always has to have at least one hiccup for their big launches :) Can't wait to play it! Well, as soon as I play some more TF2 first :lol |

Here at Tampa's Best Buy LE were all like that.
Me and my friend got to the car and I got the excellent idea of checking discs, they severely scratched. We went back to the store and there was a guy there also waiting for a response for the same problem. This dude works for BB and together with another dude who works there and was on shift they came up with the idea of trading the scratched disks of LE with non scratched disks of regular editions. The label on the disk is different but besides that it's the same stuff. So me, my friend and this dude got our LE with pristine regular edition game disk. The other extra disk on our LE was not that at scratched, very little so everything is fine by me. |

my LE copy just arrived... both discs loose in the case and scratched, fuck this shit really
edit: discs work and all, ie they're not unreadable, but I'm sure I'll keep blaming the scratches for every single hiccup in the game, I'm definitely sending this crap to M$ once I beat the game.

Walked into Target around midday and asked for a copy - expecting just a standard edition. He went out the back and brought in a limited edition, and proceeded to charge me only $99 AU for it. He made a call to his supervisor which I couldn't overhear. He then sent me to another counter to pick up my free strategy guide. My game disc was loose, but unscratched and it plays fine. I'm more than happy with my Halo 3 buying experience.
