Man, the Slayer song has one really brutal part. It took quite a bit of luck to beat it.

Overall, on hard, the game pretty much resembles the Expert difficulty in the previous games. Hard in GH2 was super easy, by comparison.

Hopefully it resembles Expert in GH1 more than GH2. I want a tier that challenges me but where I feel it's within my reach from top to bottom... I know I'll never do songs like Misirlou or Freebird on GH2 Expert...

I hope also, that with regard to Hard's "Expertness" that you're not skipping notes in non-solo parts of a song. They could really just strip back the obviously difficult parts and I'd be happy. I like playing a note for every note in most cases...

I'm still debating on getting the bundle or just the game. Is the improvement from the xplorer to the gibson worth the extra 40 bucks? Maybe I'll try it at best buys before I decide.

ok...

After playing Rockband at Bestbuy...

There is no reason to ever buy another GH again. Period.

The controller alone puts it above gh, but the drums... holy shit. I'm waking up early tomorrow to be there at store opening just to play it again. Whoevers idea it was to have this setup at the midnight launch should get a raise.

I was hoping it would be, difficutly-wise, somewhere between GHI and GHII.

I was able to easily beat expert on I, but could not complete the last tier on II.

I'm definitely going to try to pick this up Monday morning. Don't know what I'm going to do with Halo 3, Orange Box and GHIII...guess I'll have to spend less time on HW.

I'd say "hard" in GH3 is comparable to GH1's Expert (in terms of difficulty progression, but, ultimately, more difficult in every possible way) and GH2's mid-level Expert songs. That said, if you compare the final tier songs of all three games (on hard), it's clear that GH3's are easily the most difficult.

Do not be surprised if you were able to beat the hard modes of previous GHs (but couldn't beat Expert), and you can't finish GH3's.

Again, I'm speaking specifically to those that are used to starting/playing on Hard; not you freaks that can beat Jordan or the final-tier songs in GH2 on Expert without breaking a sweat. Just for a frame of reference, I beat GH1's Expert with little difficulty but could not finish GH2's.

Dag nabbit, so to enjoy myself as I enjoyed myself with GH1 and GH2, I'd have to kick it down a notch to Medium... but then I won't be hitting the 5th fret. This seriously blows, I don't want a twitchy Asian rhythm game for superhumans, I just want to have fun. And then I'm seeing reports of people with the PS2 version having trouble with their GH1/GH2 guitars. Then other people are saying their brand new Les Pauls are defective

I had a glimmer of hope for this one but I guess I really will just stick with Rock Band

You have to use regular batteries for it? ...

So is the new wireless guitar worth it over the last one? Any advantages besides it being wireless? I'm wondering whether I should bother getting the guitar or just getting the game alone.

Wow, that's lame. I was thinking of getting the new guitar but after reading a number of post atGamefaqs, I'm keeping my old one. Apparently the buttons dont work and the start power is too sensitive (it automatically goes off).

Cowboys From Hell is much harder than any song in career on GHII. I've never gotten further than 10% on that one, and the two songs I never beat in GHII career I've come maddeningly close to beating.

Pfft. My Wal Mart didn't even have it for the 360. All they had were PS2 and Wii. The idiots searched in the back for about 30 minutes and couldn't find it. Had them call the Wal Mart 20 minutes away. "Oh yeah they have them," the clerk tells me. Drive 20 minutes and get there. No they don't all they have is Wii and PS2. Such bull crap. I hate Wal Mart.

My friend just convinced me to buy the 360 version as we drove to Best Buy. I will join the MONSTERS OF NEOGAF.

It was pretty funny when we got there. It was 1 am and there were nearly a dozen employees just standing around doing nothing. There was a shitload of each version still available. One of the guys told us we were smart to come later, as there was a pretty big line at midnight.

Only reason Cowboys from Hell is hard on GHI is because the HO and PO system is so tight that you get a small ass window to nail notes. On the solo its murder unless you really know the timing. I was able to 4-star Cowboys from Hell but I don't ever think I could get a 5-star.

None of the buttons on the Xplorer work. It's why I still don't have my own copy of GH2 360, just PS2. With the RB guitar confirmed to not work in GH3, I guess that's another $90-100 I just saved. :(

Never met someone who strummed every note in GH2. You try Jordan out? You must be able to strum pretty damn fast to get through some of the upper tier songs in Expert.

I specifically said Career mode (main set list would have been more clear) because I got slaughtered by Jordan and Six. And I must be able to strum really fast because I only make extensive use of alternate strumming on Misirlou (tied with Godzilla for the easiest top-tier song in a GH game) and only use it at all on maybe three other songs in career.

After getting stuck in GH2, I beat Cowboys from Hell on my first runthrough on Expert and I still haven't beat GH2 on Expert (stuck on the last tier). I'm not sure how the difficulty stacks up, but I felt that you got the star power a lot more often in GH1 than GH2... so it made Cowboys from Hell a lot easier to beat.

I just tried it again to make sure it was still hard. I didn't even get far enough to have star power.

I think EB is having a deal where if you trade in a game towards Rock Band, you get an extra 30%. If they're buying a 360 Guitar Hero bundle for 70 bucks (doubtful), I can get 91 bucks total for it. I'll only lose 10 bucks. :\
